👻🏮 Around Obon in August, families honor and remember spirits called yōkai reflecting on a long tradition of coexistence between the living and the unseen. This woodblock print by Utagawa Kuniyoshi depicts the giant skeleton Gashadokuro, a yōkai said to silently stalk travelers.

On July 18th, Japan Society closed off JAPAN CUTS Powered by Canon with Hirokazu Koreeda's Sheep in the Box, followed by a Q&A with the director. Before the screening, VIP Guests also had the rare opportunity to meet Koreeda himself before sitting for the screening.

Peace Winds Deploys for Kumamoto Earthquake Relief
A powerful 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck Kumamoto Prefecture on the southern island of Kyushu on Tuesday July 28 at 4:27 pm JST. The earthquake caused intense shaking, and there are initial reports of significant damage. Members of Peace Winds' ARROWS medical response team are on the ground now and will soon be joined by a second group of responders.
