Out of Dark Waters is a collision between high fantasy and Lovecraftian horror, inspired by a love of tabletop storytelling.

In my wife's words, "It's the D&D campaign you wish you were playing!"

Painted miniature, "Nub, Dwarven Sausage Maker," by Reaper. A hooded dwarven man, wearing butcher's clothes and red gloves, glowers out of a stone doorway, cradling a large knife.

Alien.

The Xenomorph is Brennan Lee Mulligan in a suit. Yes, he’s making all the noises himself.

Trollhunter, where Hans is still played by Otto Jespersen, while the student filmmakers following him around are panicking Muppets.

Horror remakes where everyone but one actor is replaced by Muppets.

Starting with Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

My parents got Bakshi's "The Lord of the Rings" on VHS from the library. With the rough rotoscope style on the Nazgul and orcs, I didn't understand whether it was live or animated, which made it all the more uncanny and frightening.

10/10, would be terrified as a child again. 👌 No notes.

I can't stop thinking how wrong the tech bros have understood creativity and creators. Or even just having hobbies.

Just realized that I broke 100K words yesterday! And I'm *so* close to finishing the draft of my second novel.

To celebrate, I'm sharing a rough mockup that I made in PowerPoint, to show a future cover artist what I have in mind.

#WritingCommunity #AuthorSky #AmWriting
Book Cover Mockup, "Oath and Memory," by Jason Stigliano. Front: A blue dragon hunches on a stony hill, overlooking a burning forest and the silhouette of a six-armed figure. Spine: Title, author, and dragon-heraldry insignia. Back: Snowscape with stony hill and pine trees under a dark sky. Blurb: A gate opened, and thousands walked through. Exiles from another world. They bore no memory of home. Not knowing who he had been, not knowing who he was, Tamlin walked the path of the Oathsworn, and fought to claim a place in his strange new world. By sword and blood, his people wrested a homeland from the beast-plagued ruins of Tavertine. Then errandless and masterless, he swore his service to an elven lady. Now she leads him on a quest to reclaim the memories of his past, and the future of elvenkind, from the hoard of the dragon Myrodhar. The Winged Fire of the North."

Finished a dice tray I've been making on-and-off for a couple of years. Built it on the larger side for wargaming. The dust lid is a cool piece of cherry wood cut by an arborist friend.

Characterful cherry wood lid, framed in oak. Angle showing lid and outside of box. Dice tray with dust lid off, five dice in tray. Red felt.

Painted up the Lord Veritant from the Spearhead magazine.

I really enjoy the challenge of the Knights Excelsior theme; sinister paladins in pure white armour bestriding the battlefield and channelling eldritch lightning.

Also finally got to try out the Jon Hodgson backgrounds! #nerdlings
Lord Veritant, of the Knights Excelsior. A tall, imposing warrior in medieval plate armour. Their armour is white, with ornate gold details on the shoulders and right knee pad. They weld a blue flaming sword in their left hand, while their right is obscured by an ornate cream cloak. Lord Veritant, of the Knights Excelsior. A tall, imposing warrior in medieval plate armour. This rear view shows an ornate gold and blue shield strapped to their back. It has numerous parchment prayer scrolls fluttering in the breeze. The word ‘Excelsis’ is embroidered on the hem of the cream cloak.

Definitely the coolest thing I've painted all year. #dnd
The cover of the AD&D Player's Handbook in miniature. Mostly. Sorta. The main features anyway.

Just re-advertising this! It's a downtime system I wrote for 5e that I've been using variants of with my D&D group for years. Totally free as a pdf on my blog!

I've been iterating a downtime system for D&D over the past several years, and it's sort of become our group's default downtime ruleset. I feel like it's gotten to a point where it's worth sharing, and I hope it's helpful to other DMs!

A lot of credit for this goes to my gaming group! Their ideas and feedback over several years are the main reason the ruleset exists as it ...

Kitbashed Grey Knights paladin. I liked the idea of the paladins casually brandishing heavy weapons that even normal terminators need to mount to their arms.

I hate when people say "The Sequels ruined Luke Skywalker" because they had a preconceived idea in their head about how he should act. Luke's arc is so much better than if he was some godlike hero who never makes mistakes.
