I have this book and it's essential!! You should buy it!!!
Back to business: @terrorvisionvids.bsky.social is down to 118 copies of the second printing of my exploration of SOV/8mm microbudget horror from the video store era, HAND-HELD HELL. Might want to get a copy soon, before it's out of print again! People seem to like the book! Maybe you will, too!

I've gotta be honest: As someone who pretty deeply dislikes defending his interests, it's exhausting to be expected to have an opinion about so much shit.

I’m good enough!
Well I‘ve got some good news.

I'm hardly any sort of horror scene cool kid, but I feel like saying: You're not owed anything. All media and platforms are curated, sometimes for profit considerations. Those places don't owe you entry for any reason. You'll be better off operating from that baseline assumption.

The Family Stone is one of my favorite movies, so I’m curious about this. But to think it shows a basic misunderstanding of what works about the original to have Kelly fall in love with another woman.

In 2023, I wrote a book called HAND-HELD HELL, about the plethora of no-budget amateur SOV/8mm horror movies that made their way to video store shelves in the 80s/90s. It was a joy to research and write, and it’s now available in its second printing from @terrorvisionvids.bsky.social!

Not gonna lie: It never gets old to hear that your 14-month-long passion project -- for which you watched 100+ hours of film, read 1000+ pages of books/articles/reviews, and spent many, many hours in front of a computer screen -- has resonated with someone in the exact way you hoped it might.

At this point, what tiny little celebrity I may have is probably due to my writing. But I’m primarily a musician! Here’s a Halloween-inspired track I wrote, then Witching Season Films put to video. Hopefully it helps get your holiday season in gear!

i love this movie so much!!! lo-fi slasher film as genuine 80's suburban time capsule / the joy of making a goofy movie with your teenage best friends with a camcorder and zero fear of being sued by john carpenter for stealing the theme music to Halloween

I've almost completed my rewatch of my "First Movies of Halloweentimes" trilogy. I've gotten through Dark Night of the Scarecrow and Hubie Halloween, but for some reason Ernest Scared Stupid isn't available to stream anywhere. Gonna have to unearth the DVD.

Not being physically awkward. I always seem to read things the wrong way, whether it’s reaching for a handshake when someone wants to hug or stepping right in someone’s way when it’s obvious they were going that direction.
What's something mundane that you're terrible at? For instance, I'm the absolute worst at being able to read people's special customized vanity plates. They have to be absolutely straightforward for me to get them

Been using my job search as an excuse not to write. But now that I have a new job, I really need to get back to it. Book #2 is taking so much more effort to pull together than the first one did.
