My best advice to new comics ppl getting published for the 1st time is get an agent or lawyer to look at the contact and fight for better royalties & ownership of your work. THE 2ND is to not assume the publisher is doing things for you like submitting things to awards, copyrighting, marketing, etc.

In case anyone is confused about how reparations could work:
A Philadelphia family just bought their first home with a $10,000 first-time homebuyer grant funded by a group of Quakers

It’s part of the congregation’s racial justice plan to redistribute wealth to Black residents in the Germantown area as a form of reparations
A Philly family bought their first home thanks to reparations from Quakers in Germantown
Green Street Friends Meeting, a Quaker congregation in Germantown, pledged to spend $50,000 a year for 10 years as part of its reparations work. It’s helping Black Philadelphians become homeowners.

Will Stancil reminds me of Amanda Palmer in that white people put him on a pedestal, and then (understandably) get very angry about what he does while on the pedestal, but also will not do the work of taking him down from the pedestal.

This is why I find the discourse about “woke 1” so infuriating. Black people suffer material consequences from racism that ruin our careers and lives. But because White people turned DEI into a status tournament, we gotta roll back the civil rights act. It’s maddening.

I'm in South Seattle, and when Macklemore was coming back up in the news I was like "I stopped following him a while ago, why was that"

Now I remember.

We gotta find a middle ground between hyping effective activism and crowning each celebrity who makes an effort as the Liberal al-Gaib

Went to the Five Finger Death Punch concert last week and I think it's a perfect way to get a grasp of the median voter.

Walking to the stadium one was a truck with a giant "Don't tread on me" custom decal, right next to it was an SUV with "I love my gay cat" and "Ted Cruz Ate My Son" stickers

Steve Bannon is a white supremacist war criminal and anyone who aligns with him is antiblack. Would you pair up with David Duke if he announced he was anti-AI?
Bernie Sanders and Steve Bannon are showing how political figures who once wanted nothing to do with one another are joining forces in the face of AI proliferation, Toluse Olorunnipa reports:
The Bannon-Bernie Bromance Over AI and Oligarchs
The bedfellows have become strange.

Look, I'll be the one to say it. I hope that any black employees are allowed to work remotely or that place is going to be bereft of us. Which is a reality that DC also had to deal with and adjust accordingly.

I'm glad people are talking lots about indie conventions!
Not surprised to see many people not understand the point of my original post (this isnt a dig on fanart or your set up) but talking about SHOWS not understanding proper curation. Why are we seeing fanart print walls at an indie comics show?
So... can we talk about this

Transgender people deserve to have a nice life. That is the entirety of the argument. If you disagree, you’re saying that you do not believe in liberty or justice for all.

Said it before, I'll say it again, I love the trope when characters in a comic says the name of a character, & the name is written in the title text font of their own separate comic series.
Speaking of great things about Travis Moore's art, I love that he draws Galaxy so *big.* My girl is tall and strong and broad-shouldered, and Travis nailed that without losing a bit of her feminity or charm.

People are on here talking wild reckless to trans people. And it is very annoying because trans people have done everything they needed to do. They educated the public about candidates who were against civil rights. They pointed people towards viable alternatives. They came through in primaries.

I think a lot of people are missing the “indie comics show” part of the drawing. It’s a vendor curation problem, comics are already edged out of comic conventions, and often not considered in zine fest spaces, so where do we go when we’re being overshadowed by huge fancy booths with no comics?
So... can we talk about this
