It is fucking absurd how much y’all want boys to have an unobstructed successful future and treat girls like fucking cannon fodder

every last high school girl out there is more valuable to the world than a boy or man who has committed sexual assault

@katemanne.bsky.social

I have been thinking about how there should be another term (like “himpathy”), which conveys the phenomenon of not wanting to be crude even in talking about the most base of violations.

For example, the word “incest” is a more palatable term than “rape by a family member”.

@katemanne.bsky.social I want to give props to the @theatlantic.com illustrator, Ben Hickey, accompanying @anneapplebaum.wsocial.eu's excellent article.

The drawings gave strong patriarchy implications wh I felt was very appropriate to the topic.

Long-form journalism deserves our sustained attention. Incredibly well-written, thoroughly & impeccably researched, @anneapplebaum.wsocial.eu's article + illustrations by @benhickey.bsky.social should be a clarion call worldwide.

@radiofreetom.bsky.social You've been gracious w helping me understand aspects of journalism, & I appreciate it.

Another sincere ques: For a long time now, social media posts are reported on as though they are equivalent to letterheaded signed statements or interviews: as if it is known who it is.

@radiofreetom.bsky.social This was a long read but, I think, lead powerful insight into a complicated phenomenon. I'm interested in your opinion though particularly re: the Pentagon's role.

Strongly recommend reading Celeste Davis' article on what we're not talking about when we talk about the struggles young men are having.

Spoiler alert: Defining masculinity as dominant or opposed to feminine doesn't help.

It's too tempting to forget what the pandemic felt like in its peak days which became early years.

Sometimes it felt insanely antisocial -- people spitting or coughing on strangers.

But there were also times when it was community at its absolute best.
