Inside you, there are two wolves.

So you’re basically eating for three now.

I did something dumb earlier this week.

I got back on Facebook. I thought I could be some sort of anti-MAGA missionary to a few acquaintances still over there. Bad idea. Week ruined.

No fights, but gosh I saw some really disheartening things and now I’m angry & depressed all over again.

Recently I mentioned needing to come up with fun team names for a certain event I helped plan, and someone immediately (and seriously) suggested, “That sounds like a job for ChatGPT!”.

It made me so sad. Why are we we so eager to outsource the easiest, most creative things to AI?

Perfect timing. I have one last #water photo to share from Balmorhea State Park and that’s also today’s #BlueSkyArtShow theme.

This is the experimental/novelty Psychedelic Blues # 6 film on a half frame.

I took a walk along the shores of the Gulf of Mexico last Sunday morning. #Infrared camera in hand. Fast shutter speed as it was very windy. It was a glorious cloud day.

Sam Richardson is such a delight. Re-watching Ted Lasso and I forgot he’s in the show for a minute. One of my favorite actors, easily.

Book 24 of ‘26. Read in April. “Mapping the Interior” by Stephen Graham Jones

Genres: horror, novella, Indigenous

Still not a big fan of Jones’ writing style but liked this one a lot more than “The Only Good Indian”.

What are you currently reading?

I’ve got “End of Days” (Jennings) and “A Beast Slinks Towards Beijing” (Yang) on audiobook, and “Dark Matter” (Paver) in physical form for some creepy bedtime reading. Haha.

*Eventually gives up; starts a new book on top of current book*

*Libby hold becomes available at the most inconvenient point in current books*

I don’t have anything for today’s Bluesky Art Show theme (glass), so I’ll share a other cypress photo instead.

Never really fell in love with the #Fuji GW690ii, but it does produce some nice, sharp images.

Democrat senators and congresspeople: next time you're questioning a republican sycophant in a hearing, instead of asking "who won the 2020 presidential election?", rather ask "is it possible for Donald Trump to lose in the 2028 presidential election?" That'll fuck them right up.

I would honestly LOVE to hear a journlist answer this often-asked question with, “Your mother’s butt”.
Q: You're talking about blowing up civilian power plants and bridges, much of the civilized world would consider that a war crime. Do you?

TRUMP: I won’t respond to that question. Who are you with?

Q: NYT

TRUMP: The failing New York Times.

I’ve shot a total of 8 sheets of 4x5 since I got my Crown Graphic. At this point I’m becoming convinced large format isn’t the format for me. 🫠

Ugly rock lovers unite! I actually think that some of the ugliest rocks are the most geologically fascinating. Like this AMAZING ilmenite-plagioclase cumulate. IYKYK.

Found in MN glacial till by a friend, now in my collection.

Ya girl was just given the okay to use this small private gym and just might be inspired enough to actually start working out again. Gonna bring my own bar and some other things up here tomorrow.

This month is the 36th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act and it reminds me that the ADA could not be passed today. It probably couldn’t get a vote in committee today.

Just finished my first Percival Everett novel. “God’s Country” was SO funny, so subversive. It reminds me a little of “Lonesome Dove” in how fast it goes from hilarious to horrifying.

I’m re-reading East of Eden because I apparently gave it 5 stars way back in the day but can’t remember anything about it. About 75% through and TBH it’s pretty good but I’m kinda ready to move on to something else.

I’m in the middle of two other books but with today being 107°, it feels like a better time to start one of my two Arctic-based novels than, say, waiting until winter.

Also, had to get this one used from eBay since it’s nearly impossible to find in the US!

The U.S. Secretary of Defense just stated that—so far—the war with Iran has cost $37.5 billion dollars.

That's since February.

That same amount is how much the United States spent on planetary science from FY2013 through FY2026 inclusive.

Thirteen years of planetary science or five months of war.

My 4x5 was being very problematic a few weeks ago. Wasn’t sure if it was the cable release or the lens. Enough people reccomended a Gepe cable, I finally got one and that solved the problem! Seems like a lot of old lenses are persnickity when it comes to cable releases.
