Republicans are starting to run away from Trump.
GOP candidates are largely ignoring Trump’s midterm advice, Post analysis shows
A review of over a million social media messages reveals that Republicans haven’t heeded the president’s call to act like he’s on the ballot and promise $5,000 payouts.

I think it's pretty obvious the Trump Admin is pumping AI and ignoring all the risks -- social, economic, political, and existential -- because they need the investment bubble to stay unpopped until they're out of office.
Sacks: Trump cutting through panic over AI
The chair of the president’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology endorsed Lina Khan’s recent assertions that existing liability laws can address key AI safety concerns.

One of the crazier parts of this Fetterman fiasco is he's not even doing constituent services... no senator or congressman personally does that work (rare exceptions apply). They hire people who do it all! Some hire better or more but still, you don't do it yourself!

There are going to be so many investigations if Democrats take control of Congress, and if only half of the allegations turn out to be true, hundreds of mid-tier, relatively anonymous officials will face jail time

Homeland Security officers are illegally accessing state voter data, new whistleblower alleges
The searches likely resulted in "thousands of violations of state laws," Sen. Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) said.

A wild story I've been working on for a bit:

Joey Norris was an Iowa poll worker in 2024. He had a verbal disagreement with fellow officials about rules for counting ballots.

Two years later, cops showed up and arrested him for election misconduct.

An election worker tried to protect mail ballots. Now he faces prison amid Trump's push for voting cases
The prosecution would be concerning during any administration, but it’s particularly alarming at a moment when Trump is engaged in an unprecedented nationwide assault on voting.

Seems bad that they're arresting election officials 2 years after the fact for a disagreement over absentee ballot handling protocols. Seems worse that there's a partisan dimension here.

I've been spending less time on social media, so I forgot to say this yesterday: Go Birds! Concerns about the O-line and the rest of the offense in general but a win is a win!

A blow to democracy in America.
Yesterday, McClatchy laid off more than 90 unionized media workers across 17 publications.

The departure of these talented reporters, visual journalists & writers will immediately leave gaping holes in local coverage for dozens of communities across the US.

It is important that you stop what you're doing right now and read What I Think about this very arcane legal matter!
Here's my fairly-rushed reaction to today's hearing

My take away: the balance of the equities on irreparable harm is comical. On one side, dozens of officials, Republicans and Dems alike, say this will be a complete and total disaster disenfranchising thousands upon thousands. On the other...
