Sometime you can judge a book by the cover, and sometimes you can judge a record by its sleeve.
P.U.N.K Girl by Heavenly opening this week's MB Record Show.
As brilliant as it ever was.
It may be all downhill from here.......*

Finding my grandparents in the recently released census in Ireland in 1926, the first since independence in 1922, was challenging.

My Foyle ancestors were easy enough to find, already settled in Thurles, Co. Tipperary with the first three of what would eventually be eleven sons.

Unfortunately it’s really difficult/impossible to get a full shot of it, because the alley is so narrow, you can’t step far enough away. This is the best I could do across 4 photos.

Paul Cleary chatting with Tom Dunne, vividly telling the story of The Blades, followed by singing of a few of the classics, with their stories. Brilliant

I'll be in Trinity next Weds giving a guest lecture, a mere 46 years after leaving midway through second year of my degree to pursue something or other. Talk about the long way around. Do come along if you're in Dublin.

Life's an illusion, love is the dream.
But I know it's Okay, Okay!!
Soared to number 29 this week 47 years ago.
Its highest position in the chart.
Until its position as number one record in this week's MB Record Show, of course.

Thought I was suffering from a huge bout of déjà vu - but no, today's Letters page of the Irish Times is, well, also yesterday's.

Is this a record?

I have to say... my only disappointment so far on this UK tour is that in the past, most hotels would offer biscuits in the room
(Like shortbread or stem ginger biscuits etc) But for some reason on this trip... I've seen nary a biscuit!
And well, Ron's not happy about it RS

Taken from the booklet of 'It Can't Be Today' - all you ever wanted to hear from the Paisley Underground.
Early sighting of Sid Griffin on this...
The Acid Song , aka Deposition Central , now on the MBRS.
And sounding sweet for a 1980 recording.

Sorry to hear about the passing of Andrew Bodnar, bass player with Graham Parker & The Rumour. And the man who played bass on Elvis Costello's (first) finest three minutes. Now on the MBRS.
