Clinical tip:
Descovy has not been studied yet for 2-1-1, so skip it until the data is out
Descovy also is not FDA approved for AFAB. While Purpose 1 showed it works, the lack of FDA approval makes getting it covered by insurance very difficult.

F*** HIV stigma, if you can't handle being with someone who is HIV positive, then you need to educate yourself and understand that undetectable, without any doubt in my soul, means untransmittable.

HIV Clinic Tip: you will be asked frequently if the "HIV med" is causing a plethora of lab findings or symptoms. HIV medications are generally well tolerated for treatment and prevention. Do a workup for other causes, and then, if nothing else, consult ID docs and we can look into it.

Clinical nuggets from HIV clinic: we had a patient with a Hep B viral load > 1 billion from rebound after stopping HIV medications. A reminder to screen for Hep B and counsel patients about stopping meds without talking to their provider first. The treatment for Hep B and HIV often overlap #IDSky

Ppl asking me about PrEP belly…it’s not real. PrEP works very well when taken correctly, some prep medications actually help ppl lose weight, and acquiring HIV because you didn’t take PrEP means you’re going to take those meds anyways as treatment. So don’t stop PrEP for fear of a belly…

Ok so here’s the deal, we now have TWO large randomized control trials that show no effect of MenB vaccination in protecting against gonorrhea, but influencers in the LGBT+ community continue to tout it as a viable option. The NHS clearly jumped the gun here but please top promoting this #STISky

PSA: while butt eczema may occur (I defer to my Derm colleagues), if on sexual history you find out this person has anal sex, it may be worth looking at TMVII as a diagnosis, as steroids may worsen the condition. I've seen 2 cases eczema treatment for years, when they needed was antifungal #IDSky

@americanair.bsky.social canceled our flight due to weather and gave us hotel and meal vouchers. The hotel was supposed to have free shuttles per the choices AA gave but after waiting 45 mins in the rain, no shuttle ever came and had to spend 50$ to get to hotel at 1am.

This is when every single hospital in the country needs to say no. Shut down all the hospitals and see what happens.
The news of HHS potentially pulling funding for any hospital that provides gender affirming care for youth should terrify everyone. This means the govt can decide what care any of us can receive and hold funding hostage for any hospital that doesn’t bend to its will.
