Mostly organic material and a series of vibrations registering as sound.

Abides in the liminal space between the Twin Cities of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, where nothing is quite real and anything is possible.

Drums, mandolin. Rarely at the same time.

The universe winds down. That's how it's made.
But memory is everything to lose;
Although some of the colors have to fade,
Do not believe you'll get the chance to choose.
Regret, by definition, comes too late;
Say what you mean. Bear witness. Iterate.

Last week, I briefly considered being done with baking for a while.

And then I made bread at the Airbnb we were staying at with extended family for a funeral.

And then I bought two baking books at one of my favorite bookstores—Lowry’s in Three Rivers, MI.

Anyway, I think I’ll keep baking.

3:50 PM 10/28/26: A Tornado Watch has just been issued across eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin, including the Twin Cities metro, through 9 PM. Storms are starting to form west of the metro that we will need to keep an eye on for tornadoes, hail, and wind. #mnwx

Once again, because I am compelled to scream this into the void:

The solutions to removing people from power who have ignored the law and refuse to live in society is to withdraw the protections of law and society from them.

This is the Paradox of Tolerance. Without it, we all die. They kill us.

I'm reminded of this April Fools day recipe from Stella Parks. It adds detail to the point of absurdity, but captures some of the level of complexity that can be involved in recipe development/modification. (Archive link, because serious eats appears to have removed the joke version).

a big chunk of us from uni saw phantom menace on opening night and I have *never* again experienced what felt like quiet deflation across the entire audience as the film rolled towards its conclusion
Literally everything about this is wrong.

Not cinematic masterpieces.

Not retroactively wronged.

We went to a midnight screening of Ep I when it opened and I can assure you that a buncha cosplayers and just generally excited people left sad and more than a little confused.
This is objectively, verifiably untrue.

The Washington Post printed a love letter to Michele Tafoya today. The only pushback came from me. Any woman who shames another by doubting how “devastating” her miscarriage was, does not have the character to be a public servant. I think Minnesotans care about character, which Tafoya clearly lacks.

People still seem confused about what will happen when Anthropic goes public.

It’s not complex:

Founders and initial investors get paid, then speculators get paid, then the bubble deflates and the middle class takes the hit. If that last happens too fast, it causes a recession.

CBS finally admitted it faked Nixon's response but not until Florida Democrats fell all over themselves telling people not to vote for the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate
Last night, South Florida Democrats joined with Republicans and issued knee jerk statements to something Angie Nixon said about Cuba during an interview with CBS.

Turns out, CBS admitted they got it wrong in a follow up post and deleted the original tweet.

CBS News’ deleted post — which claimed she “declined to say” whether Cuba is a dictatorship — took on a life of its own.

i get replies like this and the answer is "most people who vote" because the vast, vast, vast majority of network news viewers do not know who bari weiss is, do not know that the show that comes on after the local news on their CBS station is now lying to them, do not know who David Ellison is
Why is anyone listening to cbs ever?

A good demonstration of how absurdly small insects can get. I was looking at a relatively small (2.5 mm) pteromalid wasp and noticed something stuck to its wing. It was an even smaller wasp.

*1400* kids missing from school between Minneapolis and St Paul this year. This is heartbreaking.
Minneapolis Public Schools just emailed to say that enrollment is down this year—likely due to Metro Surge—with 900 fewer English Language Learners compared to this time last year. An estimated $12.9 million less revenue for our schools.

The impacts of ICE on our community continue to mount.
