Still waiting for the BFI or Švankmajer's Athanor outlet to upgrade all his short films to blu-ray. I'd probably prefer the BFI to do it since their DVD set has some good extras.

Revisited Jan Švankmajer's typically bizarro celebration of private erotic rituals and outsider art, Conspirators of Pleasure (1996). The most tactile film you ever did see, Surrealist fetish ASMR. Luis Buñuel, Max Ernst, Sade and Sigmund Freud thanked in the end credits. A delight..!

Started to realise how good Ricardo Darín is after watching him in this then shortly after in the two features made by Fabián Bielinsky: Nine Queens (2000) and The Aura (2005). The latter is especially worth seeking out.

A Dunwich Horror update for interested parties: Dr. Henry Armitage begins the arduous task of deciphering Wilbur Whateley's encrypted diaries. I'm pleased with this panel but glad it's out of the way. The necessity of matching my micro-shading of the 1980s is another arduous task.

Don't usually expect to see grapes growing at a latitude of 53˚N yet here they are. House round the corner has had a grape vine snaking its convolvulus-like tentacles over the wall for the past few years. This is the first time I've seen it produce actual grapes. I didn't try eating one.

Yet 99.9999% of all book talk on social media is about books that are in print.
Centuries of gold awaits. But hardly anyone takes the chance.

I think Criterion maybe hid this exploded diagram of the Lone Wolf And Cub baby cart I did for them a bit too well?
And never mentioned me either in the short doc about artists who worked on it ~:(

Good grief, thanks to a video on Instagram, I've just discovered that the Criterion edition of Lone Wolf & Cub (that I've had on my shelf for about 9 years) has a secret compartment in the spine containing the blueprint for the weaponised babycart..!
