I could testify on oath that Brand didn’t rape me. I’ve never been in a room with him. It would still have as much evidential value as allowing his wife to testify that he didn’t rape her. The justice system is an absolute disgrace to victims: it doesn’t hear about the days a burglar didn’t burgle…

It’s easy to doubt this is the same world we grew up in. But leaders like Zelenskyy, Carney, possibly ours (too soon to say) remind me that determination, resilience + duty aren’t dead. The spirit of the people in Ukraine, Canada, Australia persists. That can be given away, but never taken by force.

The US and its satrapies don't want to admit that Chinese soldiers are in Ukraine for the same reason they're coy about admitting that they are actively fighting against Russia and China.

Admtting it would mean sanctions on China affecting Musk etc. businesses.

I knew they were going to use the word integrity. It is right at the end 😡

What manner of ‘integrity’ is this that denies this young lady the same rights and opportunities as her non-disabled peers?

Sadly predictable, though. They also have targets to meet, which can impact future funding for courses.

It's all a horrible mess. But we battle on.

Big shout out, though, to The Education People for picking up some of our rejected bunnies and giving them hope. We need more options like theirs.

Ooh - inverse care law, I'll make a note of that.

We had a Y11 with high anx&trauma who went from 10% attendance on referral, up to over 60%. She attended 90% of hair&beauty lessons and all of her exams, worked at home, got higher than pred grades...but lost her H&B offer b/c of her Y11 attendance.

Worst part is, on results day, she realised she got grades for the higher course, phoned, confirmed, attended a taster day. She was overjoyed.
September - they pulled her offer, based on her Y11 attendance...which they knew was low, months previously (and on results day).
It broke her.

It’s also time for European officials to stop telling Zelenskyy what he can and can’t say about the truth of the people he is facing. He gave their advice a good shot, but the truth is that none of those officials can influence Trump because Trump is beholden to Putin. So don’t patronise Zelenskyy.
We must get Ukraine the intelligence that’s been choked off. If we have to steal it from the USA that is the right thing to do and history will defend us.
💔🇺🇦 Every Ukrainian knows this feeling. The exhaustion. The feeling of being tired of having to survive, day after day, night after night. Not living, just trying to make it through another day.

But we will never give up. We will keep standing, keep fighting, and keep believing in our future.

Baroness Spielman isn’t a curriculum expert. And if she understood child development she would know that children typically cannot master reading and writing without first mastering speaking and listening. They also cannot live decent lives without proper personal, social and emotional development.

I once saw an Ofsted webinar in which they suggested that toddlers need direct instruction in the prior knowledge required to complete a shape sorter. It was at that point that I lost all patience with this 'only one method' nonsense. Agency, playfulness and inquisitive attitudes are important too!

We're repeatedly told that 'direct instruction works' and yes, it works for some stuff, but teachers I meet IRL tell me that a delivery model has the side effect of making learners passive. If you never have to figure anything out for yourself there's a significant risk that you forget how to do so.

The methods we are told 'work' for stuff in teaching often seem to come with significant side effects and also have a sizeable group who they don't work for. (I'm thinking phonics and the reports I hear of children who now 'hate reading' or for whom phonics still hasn't 'worked' in secondary.)

Any time you say that you've found the only way to do something, and that you've 'won the debate', you have stopped engaging with science and started relying on belief. I'm no expert but surely the whole point of science is to keep searching for better answers? 🤷‍♀️

A new teacher told me yesterday that they couldn't experiment with a different way of starting the lesson to see if it helped with focus and attention because the school had a set way of delivering lessons. I think that's really sad. We are in danger of stripping all the creativity out of the job. 😕

Someone needs to explain face-eating tigers to Sarah Pochin.

If you decide to work for a Russian asset whose entire political platform is harming ethnic minorities and pushing women back into submission then you can’t really complain about the chauvinists who won’t listen to you.

My next question is, if we do not have ppl coopted on the inside capable of stealing the intelligence Ukraine needs from US systems, why not?

Trump has telegraphed who he works for over a decade. We should be on this.

Lavrov is letting the mask slip. Ukrainian civilians ‘don’t deserve respite’ from Putin’s war crimes is the kind of thing you say if your whole casus belli is lies, you are annoyed bc you are Goliath losing to David, and the script you gave your US asset gifted Zelenskyy an unimpeachable comeback.

The pattern is consistent: when the front stalls, Moscow moves to terror. Assassinations abroad are the same logic as strikes on Ukrainian cities, exported. The response has to price that in: harder sanctions, expulsions, and air defense for Ukraine, not more red lines.
