I talked to some smart people around the NASCAR industry and dug into the recent brake failures for @roadandtrack.bsky.social

Why NASCAR’s Big Brake Failure Crashes Might Keep Happening
Mandatory brake cooling alone cannot fix failures compounded by team choices, constant slowdowns, and a particularly tight Turn One.

I find driver nationalities to be a Netflix-brained way of looking at motorsport politics. Like, the converse of this point is that American racing series (discounting stock cars, which only Americans do at all) are so good that competition for seats is international.
Why Hasn't America Produced An International Racing Legend In At Least 30 Years? - Jalopnik
The rise of NASCAR, Americans' lack of exposure to European racing, and the increased cost of racing have all contributed to the U.S. decline internationally.

I urge you not to get excited about this

I submit that two qualifying sessions per Monaco Grand Prix weekend is actually a dramatic improvement

Wow, Denny Hamlin does not think highly of Corey Day's driving, huh

Motor racing is the last thing worth talking about online, and the AT Protocol is the last technology worth using to talk about it. And the fact that not only do I see no discussion of the AirTouch 500 at The Bend still ongoing, but that I saw none ON THE WEEKEND…

It gives me great pause.

The Supercars Supra is my nomination for best new race car introduction of the year. It had its reliability moments, but it was not even the weakest of the three during the sprint season, and it was first and third in its first ever endurance race.

I have completed the Bend 500, so now I can luxuriate in the Suzuka 1000

Formula 1 does not have an identity coherent enough to make designing for it as intuitive as everyone wants it to be

Told the guy driving the red Z3 with the top down that he was driving my childhood dream car when he let me cross. Probably made his week

Yes, we all believe you that you planned this transition for a couple races after the summer break in the middle of your first season with a factory team. Very good planning yall did on that.

Ross being able to lead and Connor having been in the top 10 for like two laps has me even more mad at Shane
