🚨BREAKING: Republican leaders are running from the vote to hold Secretary Hegseth accountable for an unauthorized war.

Turns out the fastest way to protect Pete Hegseth is to shut down Congress. Mission accomplished!

Sixty-three years ago, four little girls were killed in a Birmingham church.

Yesterday I stood with faith leaders and colleagues at the Smithsonian to honor them and answer one call: Black history is American history.

We refuse to let it be erased. #IL01 #BlackHistory #Smithsonian

Today we honor Mexican Independence Day and the men and women who answered the Grito de Dolores in 1810.

In the First District, our Mexican American families, businesses, and neighbors make our communities stronger.

Proud to stand with you for dignity, equality, and opportunity. ¡Viva México!

Trump lied about mail voting for years while voting by mail himself.

This year he tried to make the lie law, using the Postal Service to block ballots. The Supreme Court said no, 7-2.

Your right to vote survived his attack. Now go use it in November.

Your vote is your voice, and every voice in Illinois’s First District deserves to be heard.

You can register or check your status right now at ova.elections.il.gov. Let’s stay engaged and keep our community’s power at the ballot box.

When nurses speak up for patient safety, they deserve support, not suspensions.

My office stood with National Nurses United at Olympia Fields today in solidarity, because no nurse should be fired for advocating for the people in their care.

Great meeting with Costa Rica's Trade Minister Manuel Tovar Rivera and Ambassador Douglas Soto Campos as Costa Rica marks 205 years of independence.

On its Independence Day, I salute a nation that has kept peace without an army for 75+ years.

Hispanic Heritage Month honors the history, culture, and hard work of Latino families across District 1.

It's also a reminder of the work ahead: fair pay, strong schools, a democracy that includes every voice.

I'm proud to stand with the Latino community.

Today we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the first responders and everyday Americans who ran toward danger to help others.

We hold their families in our hearts and recommit ourselves to the unity this nation showed. We will never forget.

Secretary Mullin is fanning the flames of hatred and has no business running this department. Resign NOW!

Every person of conscience must speak up when our government degrades people like this. It’s vile, it’s racist, and it must stop.

How much longer will we allow this pattern of hatred?

The US Ambassador to the UN wants the UN to cut off the weapons fueling Sudan’s war.

Start at home: halt US arms sales to the countries arming the RSF. The bills exist. This administration opposed them.

Use the power we have to stop the killing!

Congratulations to Frances Tiafoe on his third US Open semifinal.

The son of Sierra Leonean immigrants who grew up around the courts where his father worked, Frances turned long odds into history.

The American story at its best. Rooting for you, Frances!

Thank you, @chuygarcia.house.gov, for providing a platform to acknowledge the families targeted in our communities and to stand together in their defense.

Your immigration status does NOT determine the status of your humanity, and Chicago will never stop standing up for one another.

I wholeheartedly welcome the UK’s ban on trade with illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestine territories.

Expansion, land seizures, and settler violence are fueling the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.

International law must mean something, and accountability must apply to all.

Thank you, Director St. Louis, and @pcgtw.bsky.social for continuing the pressure on this administration. My colleagues and I are demanding answers to the 30+ "deals," many negotiated in secret, by the Trump Administration jonathanjackson.house.gov/media/press-...

Happy Labor Day!

Today we reflect on the contributions of the labor movement that organized, mobilized, and compelled federal and state institutions to confront unsafe, inequitable, and economically destabilizing conditions.

How much of what we call “fact” is just what we’ve been taught to see?

For generations, maps shrank Africa. Now the UN backs more accurate ones.

The vote: 164-1, with the US the lone no.

This is about accuracy and respect. America should lead in drawing a fair world, not resist it.

Sec. Hegseth gutted Civilian Harm Mitigation & Response because it was “woke.” EVERY SINGLE COMMANDER pushed back, but Hegseth went against our legal -& moral- imperative anyway. Since then, the US military has killed hundreds of civilians. Hegseth & Trump's illegal, reckless war on Iran must end.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt said, “There is nothing so American as our national parks.” As we celebrate National Park Week, let’s remember why these places matter, and why protecting them matters to every American. 🧵
