Small Range of motion tests,
Focusing on the shoulders, arms, chest and back in particular
Seeing how things feel when im doing rushed experiments with animating and get a feel of how well the mechanics could work.
The animations are not pretty, they are just quick tests :)

@cupid.day was kind enough to do a background so I can test how far I can see if I want to invest in animations work that would look like this.
Pose was just done in 5mins as a rough idea with camera, then we went from there to focus on the test

Rough posing, Just showing some of the process and how I approach things just back and Forth
Even though it hasnt shown,I keep in mind of keeping the mechanics in, such as The frontalis muscles moving, and then also trying to keep some appeal but focusing on angles

They are genuinely the starting stone to any face posing work and figuring out who your character is
Even if the changes are subtle, making a neutral face is great to start your work from for face anim

I don't like breaking things to look good,
I'm more of someone who believes we can make things look good without breaking too much in 3D.
Good enough pass to work on other face expressions now.

Because its a constant back and forth of multiple things:
"How do I want the neutral to be"
"Can the rig allow certain things"
And you can see that with the amount of trial error I have with the eyebrows till i got somewhere I was somewhat happy a rough first pass

First thing I do when getting models is changing the face pose to a "on-model" neutral pose that feels right to me in places.
I enjoyed @wrendog.bsky.social Art of Marzi with their hair covering their eye so I wanted that more in a neutral position

While the intensity of them are low, I do this to give myself a guide of how I want the face to look at certain points and to gain a rough understanding of how the face would move for that character.

Using CSP paint brushes and liquify currently to edit from the original render.
Will be redoing how I want to keep the face on the more sad(ish) as i was doing notes in my notebook on how to keep some parts of the lips still use similar shapes

Still need to add more poses onto the arms coming up, but just wanted to block in the next section start so i can flow the arms into the idea better.
But at the moment still in a very rough blocking stage.
No timing adjustments yet, just going through poses in my head before refining them
