I think another part of it is that Mutants are always an allegory for [insert oppressed identity here].
To see them thriving in a home they made for themselves, and the stories around how the rest of humanity was like: "NO I HATE THIS FOR THEM" was probably uncomfortable for a lot of people.

The Governor just signed my bill to allow people to sue ICE, Border Patrol, and other federal agents for violating people’s constitutional rights. Starting immediately, people can sue federal agents retroactive to abuse occurring in March 2025.

In all the grandiose discussion about colonising Mars, I don't see much about how the soil is poisonous to us.
This was only discovered in 2008. It contains perchlorates, which are environmental toxins here on Earth.
Any human contact with Mars dust? Super-bad news in the long run.
