This is an interesting retrospective of ads in the NYT over the last 175 years. Oddly, though it mentions a 1994 Delta ad informing readers the airline no longer allows smoking on its planes, it doesn't mention the NYT decision to stop running cigarette ads in 1999.

Amazing how the billionaires who tried to tilt the Free Speech scale (you can say what you want except that thing I dont like so you can’t play at my stadium) and the artist who chose to not take sides, but in doing so, took sides, now are in a bigger mess if they just let free speech happen.
