In April 2020, my then-5yo came up with a song called “Join The Team”.

When I get low, this always lifts me up.
Going to my 30th high school reunion tonight and it’s really wild how three decades both pass in the blink of an eye and feel like an eternity ago.

For the last 10yrs, he put reporters in holding pens, called them piggy, debased them, called them enemies of the state, etc. & they kept coming back. Access. 1/

The 12yo just put on "Groove is in the heart" and excitedly tells me, "Did you know that Q-Tip is on this?!" and I think that's a pretty dope way to end a very long week.

I do wonder if reporting on Trump just showed the parallels or echoes of Hitler would help folks really understand what's happening. So a graf or two in this news story, for example, of how Hitler banned the free press...

This is an interesting retrospective of ads in the NYT over the last 175 years. Oddly, though it mentions a 1994 Delta ad informing readers the airline no longer allows smoking on its planes, it doesn't mention the NYT decision to stop running cigarette ads in 1999.

an enterprising reporter should look at which media companies MSFT and OpenAI are advertising with or if any of these execs have ever said something about how they support journalism.
OpenAI and Microsoft executives privately described their AI products as substitutes for journalism, according to court filings made public on Thursday that the New York Times and other news outlets say gut the tech companies' fair-use defense in a closely watched copyright case.

For many of us, it was all very obvious to know what was gonna happen.
every establishment u.s. jewish is going to fall all over itself to stand with israel right now even though just last week israel's government was palling around with our country's most prominent antisemite who spent the last year ratcheting up a dangerous campaign of public rhetoric against us
Being an American Jew means having to balance the moral weight of history and the consistent threats to our survival with the obvious Israeli apartheid being carried out in Adonai’s name.

We need more pieces like this. @jamellebouie.net (as always) nails it:

"But where even Trump once had to create the sense of distance between himself and the alt-right, now it is hard to think of it as “alternative” at all. Now it is simply the Republican right."

Been catching up on The Office Ladies podcast, as my 12yo is obsessed w/the show

And flabbergasted when Jenna Fischer explains how the show didn’t pause when she had her baby and she lost 1/4 of her salary bc she was on maternity leave. Meanwhile show stopped for when the men did movies.

Amazing how the billionaires who tried to tilt the Free Speech scale (you can say what you want except that thing I dont like so you can’t play at my stadium) and the artist who chose to not take sides, but in doing so, took sides, now are in a bigger mess if they just let free speech happen.
