Very gay and autistic Bachelor of English/History, focused on 19th-century European literary history. I'm the one who whispers "*gasp* doggie" every single time I see one, so be warned
THIS is why I bother shopping at the mall down the hill from my apartment. THIS is why I avoid buying from Amazon or online retailers as much as I can. THIS is why I enjoy working as a manager at a shoe store. It is a genuine JOY to get to shop, and to help people shop, and we need to preserve it
But when shopping, I encourage you to consider the total package. Sometimes you're not just buying a product, but also good service, a fun day, and a memory.

After all, it's through shopping at these places that they will continue to exist.

If Dolly was our constant reminder that it was Good to be Good, Tim Curry was our reminder that it was Good to be Weird. Embrace your strangeness, sing with Muppets, wear your lingerie with a leather jacket, and fuck with uptight people who hate anything that makes them remotely uncomfortable.
RIP to a motherfucking icon.

Hello, Thanatos? Yes, hi, the human race here, we were just wondering if you could go have a quick chat with the Furies on WHICH old people need their souls reaped, I think there’s been a miscommunication somewhere

I swear I'm going to be on the FRONT LINES fighting against the Amazon-ification of the world because not only is the joy of shopping in person and the convenience of seeing the item in person unmatched, but also because that way you don't get sent something TEN SIZES BIGGER THAN WHAT YOU ORDERED

This is just to say

I have taken
The big wooden horse
That you left
On the beach

And which
you were probably
saving
To give to Athena

Forgive me
It was really dope
So wooden
And so holl--*shink*
This is just to say

I have eaten
the lotus flowers
that were somewhere
can't remember where

and which
you were probably
saving
for some reason

forgive me
I can't remember who you are
or who I am
The lotus flowers were good though
This is just to say

I have turned into pigs
the men
that were on
my island

and which
you were probably
saving
to row you to Ithaca

Forgive me
they were disgusting
so male
and so disrespectful.

“Couldn’t you just use magic to make the forging faster?”

“I could. I could make it entirely with a wave of my hand. And then what would I spend the dusky hours of my life on instead?”
Another odd moment occurred when Musk insisted that work in the future would be "optional" because robots would do everything.

Musk said people might still work in the future but compared it to people who grow their own backyard tomatoes. He said they could just go to the store for better tomatoes.

I have this thread saved but I'm also reposting it again because I have been on the job hunt again for a bit and my brother just sent me a dozen listings in my preferred sector that I do not feel remotely qualified for but he has made me swear I'm going to apply to them all, I need Kerry's strength
There was a grad school scholarship I was not remotely qualified for & I decided to apply.

In earlier years, I’d avoid hard classes because I needed to maintain my perfect GPA. I didn’t apply to things I wasn’t qualified to apply for because failing was so brutal I couldn’t.

I wouldn’t even try.

Good (and I cannot stress this enough) bois
These hero dogs chased off a man who tried to sexually assault two female dog walkers. They were able to push him away, and then their pack of 11 rescue dogs ran him off into a tunnel and ripped off a piece of his pants. The dogs are all getting our highest honor, a 15/10

Okay so the real villain here is organizations like Phantom Fireworks that are *charging their contractors money and rental fees for their stand if they dont keep it open*. They emailed all their stand workers saying *this was still the case even after Cox announced the ban*. What the actual fuck

Apparently my course correction in response to the advent of Google AI is that I've come to despise googling things altogether now. Like, consistently one of my family members will mention something I haven't heard of and I'll go "Oh, what's that?" and when they tell me "just google it" I see red

@swilua.bsky.social my coworker asked me what a butch lesbian was and my immediate response was to pull up a picture of Heather and you for comparison, I hope I have not overstepped

Sometimes I question my small desire to be an English teacher and then I go on twenty-minute rants about the importance of poop jokes in the English literary tradition at 3 am and that’s when I think I might actually be perfect for it

I am in this book so I also think you should buy it
Speaking of being gay, IT IS ALMOST PRIDE MONTH and the gayest possible thing to do right now would be to buy a copy of the book I edited

Pierre Bourdieu once argued that the question of whether something is art isn't answered by the artist's intention or even the object itself. Instead, the quality of being "art" is conferred by a community — curators, dealers, auction houses, audiences, etc. 🧵

There's plenty of things I could say about this that have probably already been said, but the thing that really *confuses* me is why he's so *angry*. This is the man whose whole campaign was predicated on "just smile and wave" and suddenly he's throwing around lines like this?
Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said the people who want to slow down the 9 GW data center project for more careful study are “destroy(ing) our country.”

“If you saw [the CEO] eat a burger like this in a restaurant you wouldn’t bat an eye because that’s how normal people eat.”

I don’t know what people you hang out with when you go to McDonalds but no one I know picks up a burger and goes “wow! What a unique product!”
The McDonald’s CEO learned a hard lesson this week—if you’re going to eat on the internet, you’d better do it a certain way, @elcush.bsky.social writes:

They’re right about religion having a fundamental role in US history, I just don’t think their plan is to cover the influence of Deism and the Enlightenment on Revolutionary-era thought
