I mean, gunpowder (and thus firearms by extension) had a place in LotR. Tolkien shows Gandalf using fireworks for merriment, while Saruman use explosives for war. (Though, it wasn’t directly called black powder, but portrayed that way in the movies.)

Just write.
RE: Recent light discourse on if guns have a place in fantasy or not is that it is only really a problem for people more concerned with Worldbuilding™ than people who are actually _writing_ fantasy.

Because of travel last month, and revelations that Google Drive could be scraping information for LLMs, the friendly writing competition I had going among some acquaintances died. #ayearofwrites may return in the future once a stable schedule and hosting platform for sharing our files can be found.
