God bless this reporter for pausing to notice and describe Dennis Rodman’s pants.
Also spotted Dennis Rodman, wearing sparkly black pants. (2/5)

@kkdumez.bsky.social makes a comparison between MLMs and American evangelicalism in Live Laugh Love that I’ve been mulling over for a while now. When I learned how the church planting system worked and how discipleship was “supposed” to work in the A29 system i immediately thought of this clip.

When I was born in the ‘80s I had a GBS infection. They accidentally put me in a room with a baby that had meningitis for a hot second. My mom still tells the story of how my dr was infuriated at the carelessness. This is also infuriating for these babies and their caregivers.

Judging by the amount of texts messages trying to tell me I shouldn’t vote for @jamestalarico.bsky.social, I think the Republicans are sort of worried. They’re really working overtime to tell me how I don’t share the same values as Talarico. But…I definitely have way less in common with Paxton. 1/2

@amycolleen.bsky.social’s review of LIVE LAUGH LOVE (which I forgot I preordered until I went to buy it this week and found jt in my Kindle already) is good but also it’s encouraging.

This account has become one of my favorites. Members of the press pool describing stuff in totally mundane ways, just casually narrating the day by day moments of the administration from Hades.
Before Trump’s arrival, there was music from the now-familiar playlist. Your pooler bobbed and weaved from our position behind the large statue of Revolutionary era soldiers that now stands at the back of the Rose Garden to see guests mingling and chatting at their tables. (2/3)

Dolly Parton had the best lines in Steel Magnolias and it’s not even close.

25 years ago, almost every plane that was over the North Atlantic when the second tower was hit was forced to land in Newfoundland. A call was on the radio: they needed folks who spoke various languages to come to the stadium to help organize the sea of humanity that just showed up at our door.

I won’t say I completely understood “The Mob Song” from Beauty and the Beast when I saw it as a child. But man, “We don’t like what we don’t understand, in fact it scares us.” is such a timeless line, esp when you consider that Howard Ashman (d. 1991 AIDS) was the lyricist. #disney

That was a heck of a crash for Leclerc. Glad to see him out of the car. The tire barrier, helmet and safety gear did their job. #f1 #monza

I love this account. Reading this sentence in such a matter of fact framing just adds to dystopian feel. It could easily be from a novel but alas, it is real life.
Pool report #17

At 7:57pm pool was ushered out of the rose garden, past framed photos on the Palm Room walls of Trump with Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, Benjamin Netanyahu, and King Charles.

We have a lid.

Okay, forget Young Hawkes. If I were single and in the Lion universe, I would like to meet the man who makes bespoke personal book bindings for Emma. That is an attractive quality in a man. #emmamlion

Yesterday I learned about a Jollof Rice festival and a giant soap box derby race in Portland OR thanks to @npr.org. I think a festival centered around different versions of a tasty rice dish sounds awesome.
hey people sorry if some of you breeze past this part but it’s Friday. We do AI discourse on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday is for stuff that rocks and is actually fun. It’s in the TOS & the packet you got at orientation. get it together please

So….. there’s an official list for coaches who have been accused but the #sbc is still out there saying a database is impossible for pastors/staff who have been accused? #churchtoo
NEW - Parents of kids who play sports: Did you know that there’s an official list you can check to see if their coaches have been accused of sexual abuse?

Here’s how to use it — and how to let us know what you find.
