Same. Even while I grew up with one side of my family branch having that believe and the other being with the “woo woo,” both sides did things like string peppers on thread and put it on the door to “keep the devil away”

And here’s my hot take: many, a lot of church kids, especially from the South, have grown up in/adjacent to Hoodoo.
I question if theelders even used the word “Hoodoo” to describe what they did traditionally, which was passed on to us.
I wish we considered historical context more in these convos.
