#PhantomsFriday A rather dreamy apparition. Jaroslav Spillar. 1898. According to folklorist William Hazlitt, ghosts are more visible the closer they are to their grave.

How can I explain to a neurotypical person how giddy I am upon learning that there is an origin story behind ghosts appearing in windows?
#PhantomsFriday #ForteanFriday Ghostly faces began appearing on window panes in the US in the 1870s. They were called "Lightning Daguerreotypes" since they were thought to have been etched by lightning. Here are two images from San Francisco, 1871.

Saving this so I can manifest it when my book is ready
Had an indie bookstore say yes to stocking my debut novel! I’m soooo excited!!! (and nervous)

They’re gonna do a nice display for it and everything. This feels like a big opportunity for this little author. 🙂

With my legal background I get how historians & archivists have meet certain evidentiary standards for recordkeeping purposes, but as a queer person with an interest in folklore/oral history, the importance of context, nuance, and in-betweens is just as important for marginalized people's history.

In advance of my editing deadline next month I've turned a 150k word manuscript into a much more succinct 107k words, which has been insane. 110k words is the limit for this genre and yet I can't help but worry that it's now too short??

I can’t say I’ve ever had a dance party in the basement of a haunted asylum before yesterday

Yes yes we all love a good regency novel, but I LOVE an Edwardian period story! The rising socio-political-economic tension against the backdrop of the turn of the century and the industrial revolution. Not to mention the STYLE.

Depending on the person, you might also use: friend, bestie, diva, babe, or Homie in Christ
Guy at the pyramids called after me “sir!” No response “maam!” No response, after a few seconds he tries again “cousin!” I think we’ve cracked it. There is a gender neutral honorific.

If you’re gonna make jewelry from my ashes and remains, then turn me into something cool

A mourning brooch/pendant of a glazed hair locket framed by oval garnets. Inscribed 1823. Garnets were seen as being in the purple range of colors and were considered appropriate for mourning jewels.

I fear I have to cut two scenes (and a line) I really really liked in order to make the storyline tighter.

I met with an editor, who is great and I’m really excited to work with her, but now I have to cut 25-35,000 words of my book in 6 weeks. And I’m already down 15,000 from my 150,000 word count. Send creativity boosts and good vibes and perhaps help.

#manifesting so I can motivate myself to finish this book: when BTRAS is eventually adapted into a movie I want Kristen Stewart to play Nora and Mirren Mack to play Aoife
