The person in charge of the US military just told them their role is to "kill people and break things."

Members of the military took an oath to the Constitution, not to violence for violence's sake.

All variants of fascism are concerned with the management of perception, but this administration's specific brand of fascism is especially performative.

They focus on intimidating and demoralizing because it is what they know best—and because it is not clear that they could win an actual fight.
It's Safer in the Front
Faced with intensifying repression and state violence, there is an understandable inclination to seek safety by avoiding confrontation. But this is not always the most effective strategy.

Pete Hegseth demands to “untie the hands of our warfighters to intimidate, demoralize, hunt, and kill the enemies of our country.”

Donald Trump demands to use US cities "as training grounds for our military,” claiming “We’re under invasion from within. No different than a foreign enemy.”

Fascism.

In the wake of Donald Trump's security directive aimed at criminalizing anti-fascism, we can expect to see federal agents use entrapment strategies to attempt to disrupt social movements.

Read about how earlier movements have experienced and dealt with entrapment:

In a 'midnight raid' on Tuesday, over 300 agents stormed an apartment building in a predominantly Black and Brown neighborhood of Chicago – kidnapping 37 people, including US citizens, and separating families.

This isn't what America should stand for.

Jury nullification has a radical history in the United States.

In the 1850s, juries across the North repeatedly acquitted defendants accused of violating the Fugitive Slave Act.

Today, when all can see the authoritarian trajectory of the state, this tool should be at everyone's disposal.

Everyone should know about jury nullification!

A jury has an absolute right to return any verdict it chooses. You can return a verdict of NOT GUILTY if you consider a law, punishment, or prosecutor unjust.

Mind you, if you mention this during selection, you may not end up on a jury.

Pass it on!
