ReadingWales’26: Sugar and Slate by Charlotte Williams
Sugar and Slate is a memoir that uses a mix of poetry and prose to explore the complexities of identity. Williams grew up in the coastal town of Llandudno in North Wales, the daughter of a white, Welsh-speaking mother and a Black Guyanese father. She returns again and again to the feeling that to be half-Welsh and half Afro-Caribbean was to be half of something but never quite anything whole.

This was such a great story and I loved the characters. Why not check it out for #ReadingWales26?
In honour of World Book Day, I’m going to do something I never usually do which is to mention one of my own books…

A twisting mystery, a love story, a tale of immigrant communities and underground music scenes in 1960s London. (It’s even got a sequel).

Using a keyboard has ruined my ability to write freehand. My hand gets cramp almost immediately when I hold a pen & try & write a letter. I've managed 3.5 pages of a birthday letter today but I miss the Kath who could write 9 or 10 pagers without any cramping or weird spider scrawl.
