Deputy gangs have operated in L.A. County for decades. Since 1973, at least 27 gangs or subgroups have been identified through lawsuits and reports compiled by the department’s independent oversight bodies.

Just did a quick look around and I don't see very many headlines about the President of the US making people pledge allegiance to him personally while telling everyone to commit election fraud and "cheat like hell" to support his party.

Seems like it should be a story?
Trump: "Please right your right hand. I pledge to the greatest president in the history of the United States. That loves us so much he can't even breath. That I will go out with my family, my friends, I'll do it any way - I don't care if I'm registered or not, I'm going to try to cheat like hell..."

I don't think media reports have adequately covered that the whistleblower says Postal Service officials are openly “describing the election ballot mail IT system development process as 'a shit show.'”

Damn right that's going into my headline.
1/ Just in: An anonymous federal worker has filed a whistleblower disclosure warning that the U.S. Postal Service's attempt to create a system to regulate mail voting for the midterms has been "rushed, chaotic, and fundamentally flawed."

There are endless studies showing this and also the financial and societal benefits of universal basic income and or housing-first policies but the U.S. never goes for any of it because it would require allowing the poor to receive benefits that the rich consider “undeserved”
“A single-payer universal health care system could cover every American, save more than 100,000 lives a year, and still cost $1 trillion less than the system it would replace, according to a new preprint study led by researchers at the Yale School of Public Health.”

Texas
Reminder that Texas has "also suspended, without notice, the registrations of more than a million voters". Details in Dok's post.

Bottom line: the Republicans know they can't win a fair election. So we're going to have to work extra hard.
Tarrant County's voter rolls have grown by more than 70,000 since the 2022 midterms. But people might vote for James Talarico, so Republicans eliminated a third of the polling places.
