Starting a list of the words that my 4-year-old substitutes for the actual terminology:

*"Buffalo" = combustion, like in an engine

HIM: This is the engine for my rocket ship! It uses the buffalo to make it go super fast

Nappy is a site offering free stock photos of Black and brown people. (The site says they’re going offline in a few months due to a falloff in demand bc of AI. Maybe Internet Archive can do their thing here?) [nappy.co]

Happy belated #DayofDredd! Salute, forever, to John Wagner & Carlos Ezquerra (RIP) for creating one of the best comics of the last 50 years 🫡

Judge Dredd was the foundation of my doctoral thesis. So many amazing comics creators cut their teeth there, and the core folks making it continue to rock

Hard to believe that it's been eight years since we lost El Maestro – join us today in raising a glass to the memory of Carlos Ezquerra.

average man harasses 0 women per year. Spiders Georg, who lives in cave & harasses over 10,000 each day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted
every woman knows a woman who has been sexually assaulted but rarely any man knows a man who has sexually harassed someone, weird isn't it?

I could read/listen to an Ennis + McCrea interview for literally hours. Thanks once again to @sktchd.bsky.social for this oral history of Hitman - without which we would never have gems like these

Meanwhile, many of the women harmed had their careers and aspirations derailed. But it's supposedly unfair for him not to be given a second chance.

I am deeply disappointed in Image for choosing to publish new comics from Ellis without him doing that work, when he previously abused his position as a popular comics writer to do what he did.

With the conversations happening here today, I'm thinking about how Ellis gets to have a "second chance" without doing any of the work to change or even meaningfully apologise to the scores of women he harmed and manipulated. All he had to do was wait a while.

In order to reduce sibling rivalry we've introduced the new baby as an essentially tragic figure who's crying all the time bc he can't eat all the delicious foods the toddler can eat. I think its working but this morning the toddler solemnly told me "baby cryin cus e can't eat pineapple... Or bugs"

Reading Spider-Man: The Afterschool Special TPB to the child has given me a space to practice voice work - in some cases, very, very stupid voice work - which has yielded, uh, mixed reactions (he is not a fan of my terrible fake Slavic accent for Kraven)

And you must hire creators who were not raised to register those people and stories as invisible. Because they do not have the capacity to take stock of what is missing due to their blind spots. They take our current recorded history at face value with a lack of curiosity and imagination.
