Two wild, vibrant blue Morning Glory flowers. As the morning journies onward, the bloom begins to display a sublime purple hue. It will turn even more purple as the morning heats-ups; by mid-morning in the desert, the spent bloom will close & become pink. August, several years ago.

the vibrant yellow of a wild Cowpen Daisy,
are a natural, lovely complement to one another.

While similar to a Monarch Butterfly, this species is named Queen Butterfly. Seen around here more often than the Monarchs... The Cowpen Daisy loves rain, and will flourish abundantly (and quite tall!) if the monsoon season is a good one... From a few days ago.

a little above him, as he drank from their feeder (not in image.)

He may be a young woodpecker, still with some first ‘pin’ feathers on his head. Or perhaps an adult molting a bit on the head, & new feathers regrowing. Unsure of the species, could be a Ladder-backed Woodpecker. Taken yesterday, after a light rain shower.

I think this is a Rufous Hummingbird, a young one, given the light-rufous color on its flanks. (The similar Allen's Hummingbirds are seldom seen here.) I really enjoy the little lady on left, in back, stretching way up to look inquisitively in my direction. I was inside, near a window… The hummer in back, center, is a male Black-chinned (with a dark purple throat); the one on right, in back eagerly drinking, is a male Rufous. There were a few more nearby, but out of image… (There are also 2 other feeders they can use, plus many flowers in a small garden.) The blurred wings here, that’s how they looked – their wings beat ~ 80 times per second, & they fly fast! Amazing little wonders.
