My experience as a kid—heck, into my early twenties for some things—was to believe everything I experienced was normal for everyone. 🧵
TFW: you back into the mechanic's car while driving the loaner...

This was a $3200 repair bill *before*. How much will it cost now?

My 38 gallon freshwater fish tank is broken. Looking to replace it tomorrow, and keep all the fish. It's...going to be an adventure. Roughly 300 lbs of water and 16 sq ft of glass.

My wife wants me to wear makeup, curl or do more with my hair, and dress feminine more often, so she can "get used to it".

She bought me clip-on earrings so she could get used to the idea of my having pierced ears. Inside a month I had just a single earring left, as they kept falling off.

I've looked down at my phone to see sports scores lately, and realize when seeing some of those scores that football season has started. Then I do a double-take when, no, that's a baseball score of 14-7.

KC lost to the White Sox 14-11. Ridiculous.

Five hour drive to a funeral coming up. Where I will be deadnamed and misgendered. All packed and leaving in 20 minutes or so.

I think the deceased would respect me. I've lots of fond memories of go-kart races and card games and just chatting.

But I'm dreading the family.

71°F (22°C). Light breeze. Slight scent of petrichor in the air. This is a perfect fall evening.

Watching "Angel" for the first time. They missed a real opportunity for "The Cautionary Tale of Numero Cinco": it could've been episode 5 of season 5...

Didn't have a good day. Don't know what to do about it. The thing I was going to do for myself didn't happen, so...🤷‍♀️

Next week, maybe? Hopefully? 😣

It's been three years since I started hormones. I'm seeing the woman I am more and more in the mirror. Unless I'm hot and sweaty, which, given the weather, takes a fraction of a second just *existing* outside.

Trump's temper tantrum is now affecting a major employer in our town (and state). Will this be enough for our Republican congress critters to stand up to him? Hint: they're all rich white men.

I'm American. I was raised to "clean my plate." I'm also used to large portions at restaurants. But some? They stick a plate with ~10 lbs (4.54kg) of food in front of each person. We're expected to eat all this? Maybe over the course of a long weekend...

I got my flu and covid shots on Friday, and, at least for me, I was out of it most of Saturday. A million times better than having either, but plan accordingly if you need to!

Okay, this has to be among the greatest interviews ever.
B.C. swimmer crosses the Strait of Georgia in under nine hours | CBC Radio
When it comes to crossing the Strait of Georgia, most people would choose to do so in a boat, a ship — any kind of a marine vessel, really. But not Melanie Buggey. She chose to swim.

Bottom surgery is a possibility within the year! Exciting and scary at the same time. I could do BA at the same time, but I'm wondering if I should wait to give the E more time to work its magic.

At what point do you share your story with someone else? Few people have read my fiction, because it's never good enough. But my wife asked.

Our CIO didn't want us using *unsanctioned* AI products, so he decided to block the .ai TLD. We're only allowed to use Microsoft CoPilot with the GPT 5.4 model, but since the documentation is on the OpenAI website (unsanctioned), we can't see that either.

Went to the regionally famous Eskimo Joe's for dinner. All the food was delicious, especially the cheese fries (but those were tainted by the praise of George W. Bush).

I wish we had the time to wander around, because the building looked really cool, especially in the 105°F heat.

Attending a Native American Southern Baptist Church this morning, to appease the in-laws. Subjecting myself to hours of deadnaming, misgendering, and pretending I'm not an apostate. I care about them, but... Sometimes you're guilted into compliance and it sucks.

Just watched Buffy S5E16 "The Body". Having lost my mom weeks ago, I viscerally understood the feelings expressed by every member of the Scooby Gang. Anya was probably the most emotionally relatable character in that situation.

Another one bites the dust. Select-a-seat had its problems, but at least it wasn't Ticketmaster.

I'm looking at candidates for the upcoming primary.

Here's a tip for anyone looking for my vote: 37 "priorities" is a little too much to bite off for your first term in *any* office.

But please, say more than "Hi, I'm running." What's your take on the issues? What do you plan to do in office?
