Threatening to vote third party again, in the Year of Our Lord 2025, is a signal that you've already given up.

You're basically stating that you looked into Nietzsche's abyss and blinked.

Miss me with that bullshit.

It's also not like NATO/EU hasn't continually responded to Russian actions outside of UKR in the last year+. No reason to give Russia what they want (shifting assistance away from UKR where our stuff is directly killing Russians to nebulously defend NATO assets).

I feel like its almost become a banal fact not worth commenting on (who should know better) that every day hundreds to thousands of Russian casualties happy in significant part because of direct and open western assistance, and they view the sabotage campaign as external to that fact

Again the Russians are doing this because they are deterred and they are trying to get us to stop supporting an effort which as seen 1.5m Russian casualties and estimated 500k deaths and massive storehouses of soviet legacy equipment.

The people advocating for Ukraine to surrender its territory to Russia today are the same people that told Ukraine to surrender Crimea to Russia yesterday and the same people who will tell Ukraine to surrender Odesa tomorrow.

But it’s not the case. There’s no way avoid killing innocent people in war. Negligence or reckless kills people. Psychopaths are empowered and not supervised. Accidents happen. Second and third order effects aren’t considered or are unidentifiable

But by arguing that it’s even possible to completely avoid 3) you’re reducing the costs of war even further to the point that military force can be used flippantly

Our government across administrations has done a lot to make 1) much less of a concern (for example Iraq had a fraction of the casualties that Vietnam did) and also spends a lot of time selling the public that 1) isn’t a concern. This is why presidents love drones, they can use force w/o casualties

Politically war is an equation. Is the amount 1)) of our own that die + 2) the other side that die + 3) the civilians that die worth whatever the goal is? No one really gives much weight to the other sides losses so you’re left with 1 and 3

The perverse thing about anti-war people calling all civilian deaths during a war “war crimes” is that it inadvertently accepts the the premise that war can fought without killing innocent civilians and diminishes the inherent costs of war
It’s really counterproductive to call everything bad that happens during a war a war crime
BREAKING NEWS: The United Nations’ top human rights body reported that it found “reasonable grounds” to believe that the U.S. committed war crimes in Iran.

Season 1, Episode 24
"The Erlenmeyer Flask"

It's difficult to know where to begin on this finale. This is the first episode with events relevant beyond the scope of itself, the episode where the show's "Mythology" truly kicks off. It's also really damn good, and Chris Carter's first great episode.

either there is some very important info missing or everything downstream of "idiot analyst used JWICS gemini to build out a single finished report" is at best a gross exaggeration
Okay, so this isn't just dumb, it's scary scary bad bad. We came within a hair's breadth of seizing a Chinese ship in international waters which could have easily spiraled into a war.

Killing people during an unauthorized and unjust war is murder, not collateral damage. And everyone who carried out such acts is liable. Sorry of that makes military people who swore to uphold the Constitutional order uncomfortable.
