I know it is controversial but I love the end game FT chess match in basketball. Just trying to optimize any opportunity you have, claw a new way to winning, can't make a defensive mistake. Beautiful basketball

When I was a kid, I heard that sports were a war simulation and I went "ok that makes sense" and moved on.
Now that I'm an adult I hear that on occasion and it is baffling to me. How? Why? When ever? Sounds just made up wholecloth

Since transition it has become clear to me that certain sports cultures, particularly football, actively want me to disengage. I've been fortunate in finding openly queer and feminine spaces that don't push me away, but sports have a problem with a very vocal minority
between this article and the northwestern student paper thing (that i think bsky mostly managed to avoid, but has been raging on twitter for days), something i wish straight sports fans understood is:
many women and queer ppl reject sports bc everything the culture rejected them first

I know this is a ridiculous thing to say, but my big takeaway when watching Arike Ogunbowale is "I wish I could have played with her"

So extremely funny to me that the takeaway here is that ABS is a good system even though, on aggregate, it cost millions of times more and was only 4% more accurate than the home plate umpire just flipping a quarter any time someone called a challenge

When Keenum first showed up at Houston, Mark Dantonio was at Cincinnati. The last time Case Keenum started more than 2 games in a season, Mark Dantonio was in his last year at MSU. Last time he played at all was the season Dantonio came out of retirement to be associate head coach for Barnett.
Ben Johnson said he is currently unsure who will start at QB in Week 3.
Case Keenum will practice with the first team Wednesday.

But that feeling of a shared bond among all Americans in the early weeks after the attack is something I’m so glad I got to experience. Because it’s the thing that I think we’re missing the most today.

The SEC's amended federal lawsuit against LSU says they believe Lane Kiffin is working with player lawyers, and that LSU has no meaningful control over the football program.
The league will consider expelling LSU at a previously-scheduled Sept. 10 meeting.

MSU football is awesome. Bad coaching hire, team isn't tangibly better, but the defense is probably better at tackling. Notre Dame is going to win by 700
