Does anyone know the stats on this stuff? I have some bird feeders and I love when the birds come back the last thing I want to do is hurt our local birds. I just planted a little native plant pollinator garden (hasn't bloomed yet) so I'm not just feeding the birds.

Sorry for the weird sidebar. This site isn't made for mobile. This is the Slocum glider fighting the current to try to get to it's waypoint in this Nor'easter. They are buoyancy driven so not going very fast.

If you have to catch up on academic readings for your thesis why not do it in the hammock?

The Facial Expressions of Tethys by artist Julius von Bismarck. A suspended high-sea buoy that moves in real time. Sensors on a twin buoy out in the Atlantic Ocean send live satellite data to motors inside the museum. This makes the indoor buoy copy the exact, real-time movements of the ocean waves.

And the answer, as best we can tell is: they have no idea they're as sparkly as a prom dress.

The iridescence is a structural color, a natural consequence of stacking layers of chitin on their plates ('elytra') to sufficient thickness to be protective.

What horrors are they protecting against?

I knit this sweater when my best girl Angel was getting older and couldn't stay as warm. 12 years later as it gets cooler our new dog Willow tries it on for size. #handknit #dogsofbluesky

People say "what's wrong with Windows?" when I refuse to use it. Well today I had Microsoft word open in windows just looking at a small document and it crashed. That's my problem.

Treating this as an unstoppable race, and accepting the "endgame" of runaway warming, is a reckless gamble that should never be decided in a boardroom alone. Betting on future carbon removal to fix today's emissions requires far more confidence than the evidence supports.

This is seismic news for fisheries scientists. Northern cod is *the* iconic symbol of total fisheries collapse due to overfishing (and other factors) *and* the iconic symbol of a complete failure to recover for decades afterwards. This is like announcing the complete recovery of bison on land.
