"All that lives must die,
Passing through nature to eternity."
- Gertrude (Hamlet, Act 1, Scene 2)

May his eternity be as beautiful as his soul for all the wonder and inspiration he gave this world.

Rest in peace, Sir Patrick Stewart.

It's in my calendar. Now I am trying to figure out how to set up a magic mirror situation where cosplayers can get a short video taken and be revealed as an Imp! I have the technology.... but how to make it portable. Hmmm...
Our evening trickery is over, so let's start the day with a morning treat in the form of 4.0's date reveal; Oct 30 & 31, 2027 back at the St. Charles Convention Center! We'll have our main hotel block at the Embassy Suites again with the maximum amount of sleeping rooms possible for our block.

*stares at result* F*** yes!

IRL I'm a fae artist that has played as a Lalafell since the launch of ARR. The gods know this.

I'M COMING TRUCK-KUN!

Anyway, now I have new glasses to adjust to and can take the old frames in for new lenses and misplaced that pair for a couple years! :)

ADHD moment of the day:

Spouse found my prescription glasses we bought for me almost two years ago in the truck while performing maintenance because I left them in a safe place (ifykyk).

Yes, I've been using the wrong scrip all this time.

And so are we. I don't need to be told again that if I work harder I can do it on my own. There is nothing wrong with being grapes. Needing support and frequent care is not a mark of shame. Grapes (and wine) are worth it and so am I.

Just ask the squape. I'm happy to be a squape.

Specifically, I'm thinking of climbing vine plants. So many wonderful flowers, fruits, and vegetables cannot grow without support from something else.

Your tomatoes won't grow in the empty field. Those grapes are far better with a LOT of care on top of their fence or trellis. They're worth it!

I am a voracious reader, and sometimes that means stumbling across stories that carve at old traumas I am still pushing free from.

"Stand tall on your own, like the oak."

Yes, but no. Not all amazing things can stand alone and needing support does not make them any less amazing.

... Am I allowed to miss the days when people tried to shortcut and learned nothing by using things like SparkNotes? At least that was accurate information, if incomplete. ... Usually. *sigh*

This rage brought to you by the techie who sees the backstage suffering of those having to make Streaming happen because someone thought it would be cool without knowing how much effort would be involved.
October 21, 2026 at 5:49 PM
Let's not forget the audio either! Most panels don't have sound rigged to run to a recording or stream, so if you want it to sound nice and not tinny, you require additional equipment to run sound from the mics to the streaming PCs and to sync to the video!

So... IT IS A TALL EXPENSIVE ORDER!
October 21, 2026 at 5:49 PM
It's not just plug in a camera and hit stream. It's thousands of dollars in networking equipment and relays to provide a HOPEFULLY stable internet connection for the stream. Then another few thousand in cameras and computers to process the video to the stream so it doesn't look like crap.
October 21, 2026 at 5:49 PM
Unless the convention in question is an Expo with press releases and announcements like the official FanFest, D23, or one of the main coastal Comic-Cons; do not expect streaming services!
October 21, 2026 at 5:49 PM
As someone who also used to work conventions and worked in the department responsible for streaming (we did stream, but only the big main hall events like Cosplay and the Dance Party)... STREAMING IS AN EXPENSIVE PAIN IN THE ASS!!

Just stumbling through art vids when I happen across a video about Mayan Blue, which was recently mentioned in an awesome panel about traditional arts and video games by @crowdalova.bsky.social and yep, the exact video Crow mentioned... followed by a video about Batik which was also mentioned.
Stalked Cat People
Alt: A gif from a classic film of a woman walking along an old stone building, glancing over her shoulder and then speeding up, presumably as she is followed. Previous title said Stalked by cat people.

Okay, help me convince Mage to stop there next time because we kept pointing the signs out on the drive and I am super curious. (We almost never stop on road trips.)

Cheers to successfully NOT working a convention I attended for the first time in... 18 years.

Back to back craft shows and non-stop life events meant I forgot to finish my cosplay and didn't get my stickers in time for the convention. Going to have a good time anyway though!

Definitely doing a watch along reaction of the first and new episode. So excited to see more of my fav VA working with my fav show artist!

I keep cans of soup or stew for low effort meals.
No effort foods are usually dried fruit seaweed snacks, or crackers.
