Not THAT Kristen Stewart. Cooking, reading and growing things in Nashville.
Maybe the lack of curiosity and self-reflection is an epidemic.

It's funny to attend Parnassus events at Montgomery Bell Academy because no matter how fancy or well-educated the author is, they will make a comment about MBA's campus e.g. "My high school was fancy, but not like this," @johngreensbluesky.bsky.social, alumnus of Indian Springs School.

This moved me to tears. Jane Stranch was a member of my parish for a long time. We often prayed "especially Jane" in the prayers of the people, as we pray for those who govern and hold authority. I do not believe the death penalty is just; I continue to pray that justice and peace would prevail.
From @friedmanadam5.bsky.social: A three-judge panel of the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals temporarily halted the execution of Christa Pike about an hour before it was set to take place on Tuesday. The judges agreed with Pike'd lawyers that they need time to investigate her history of sexual abuse.

This morning @rebeccaemily.bsky.social and I overheard someone ask if there was pork in a dish at the diversity brunch at the Islamic Center.

Can’t wait to make a statement saying I oppose this project, not because of the height, but because it turns 10 housing units into 6.

My mom and sisters came to visit and told me they smelled gas. Firemen came by in a truck (siren, lights) and said there was no leak, maybe we're just sensitive to cat smells* / the brain is funny.

Why is it so satisfying to get a new vacuum and re-vacuum a room just to see how much the old one missed?

Go rest high on that mountain, 2005 Dyson. Your work was excellent for a solid two decades.

TFW you report a power outage and NES texts back that they are aware, but 15 minutes later it’s not on the outage map and so you have no idea how many people are impacted though the neighborhood association email list indicates at least several dozen.

My paternal grandmother has 5 children & 18 grandchildren. That's a lot to keep up with. When I was a kid she told me she never forgot my birthday (9/5) because of Dolly Parton's song. I was a little offended by that at age 10, but I outgrew it quickly.

Fell asleep sad at the loss of Wendell Berry… woke up 15 minutes ago feeling overheated because the power is inexplicably out. 🫠

I swear I passed a Bill Hancock for State Rep sign that was about property taxes. Do people think state reps control our property taxes?

I would like to report the murder of 50-100 zinnias. (I have more but murder is murder.)

Zinnia arrangements since Tuesday and I’m missing three vases I forgot to photograph.

I have reached the point where the heat and sharing a car with a kid home from college has left me spent. I've even neglected the zinnias. I cut about 75 this morning and there are so many more that are ready, send me a message if you want to come clip (about a mile from Elmington Park.)

I was mowing the lawn, listening to an audiobook, when I noticed a man in his twenties trying to get my attention.

“Excuse me. Do you live here?” I nod in reply.

“Every day I take a walk and every day your flowers make smile. Some days I think I walk just to see them.”

Be a good neighbor. I had just planted the last of my seeds in the bald patch after a pile of branches was picked up. Our street is wide enough that no one ever needs to park in the grass, and this family’s cars on their side of the street are never, not ever, on the grass.

Dear LinkedIn, I really appreciate the vote of confidence, but I don’t know that I’m qualified to run a healthcare system with 100 hospitals.
