My closing thought of 2025 is the following - there is no situation the police make better. If I'm sick, I need medical attention. If there's a fire, I need the fire department. If there's an intruder, the Second amendment is all I need. The police are there only to escalate problems. That's all.

Riley Gaines accomplished a lot as an athlete and advocate, no denying that from me. But libraries are about inclusion, curiosity, and access to every viewpoint, not culture wars. Her appointment to my local library board feels like putting politics where open minds should be.

I finally pulled the trigger and deleted my personal X/Twitter account I've had since 2012. I miss what it used to be, but that's never coming back. I'll make sure my timeline isn't the worst of the left, but I can stand them more than the worst of the right. This shouldn't even be political.
