Wrote a post about common archetypes and their functions in stories. This Jungian concept is used in marketing and messaging all the time. Spotting the use of archetypes and understanding why you respond in certain ways can help you combat modern complacency:

Just published my first assignment for my not a Masters. Unsurprisingly it's about the patriarchy with a dash of anti capitalism...

The report on #AILiteracies I wrote with @laurahilliger.com for BBC R&D has now been released! 🙌

It was delayed due to the charter renewal process, so hopefully it still stands up to scrutiny...

Officials, nonprofits and media folks staying on shitty platforms: Have you forgotten what collective power means? I've boycotted ALL Facebook products since 2008 (or 2009 or 2010?) and even then people thought I was "only hurting myself". It's not true, it's a narrative and we can dispel the myth.

When it collapses it will seem sudden, all at once. But if something doesn't change soon this regime is finished. Keep striking, keep fighting, keep pushing where you can, keep building resilience and mutual aid, keep caring for one another and building the world you want to live in.

The LinkedIn "Your year in review" sent me over the edge. I sent a raven to coordinate the raining of pox. It will summon its brothers and sisters on the winter solstice and bring sweet damnation to the fuckheads who decided that wrapping up the year with stupid factoids of app use is a thing now.

Idk if people who follow me are still writing on substack but if you are, a default privacy setting is set to let AI scrape your writing so you might want to check that. One of the first FOSS projects I did was called Open Attribute, and attribution doesn't matter an iota to these fuckers.

Given how much the GOP actively and openly disdain women, is it really surprising that their overlord destroyed the East Wing?

Yep, this is basically what we all think about AI. And it is exhausting to have to pick apart the political, social and economic implications of the ridiculous hype machine every time people outside of tech say stupid stuff about how AI is a game changer
Okay, for the folks who asked: here's the majority AI view, writing up the reasonable, thoughtful view on AI that the vast majority of people in tech hold, that gets overshadowed by the bluster and hype of the tycoons trying to shill their nonsense. anildash.com/2025/10/17/t... Please share!
