Journalists need to stop describing these incidents in terms implying software has agency and intent. It does not. The people who created a faulty and dangerous product are the ones responsible for whatever happens, and must be held to account, with punitive financial penalties for damage done.

For as long as my pro-AI university allows me to ban generative AI, I'll continue to do so. But because so many classes allow or even encourage it, even in the Humanities (ugh), I feel like I have to lay out more of my reasoning every semester. Basic argument: LET'S MAKE HUMAN THINGS, WHILE WE CAN.
