Intro: I'm a photojournalist with a background in newspapers before joining Reuters. I've covered small feature stories, national and international protest movements, climate change, breaking news, conflict and so many other things in between. I'll be posting my work here and on IG. #photojournalism
Update: I am now a freelancer! I left Reuters so that I could pursue new paths and projects and I will continue to freelance for them in the future. I am a professional photographer/videographer, I have a drone license, recent HET certs and I am also getting into the safety instructor space.

15 likes vs. 6.2k likes. It's rhetoric like this that continues to turn everyday ppl away from anyone who works for a MSM outlet regardless of how good they are as a journalist. the silly part: you can have an interesting debate abt when as a journo you shld choose to break rules for greater good.
The nuance of this convo is that video is not allowed in that part of the Capitol, that's why you only see stills from those press conferences. You could argue about whether someone should choose to break the rule and get their pass revoked, this is different from ppl self-censoring due to content.
reporters werent “barred” from recording, the powerful people they are covering asked them not to record and they immediately complied and hid whats happening from their audience

I still feel that the fact that most photojournalists were never given access to hospitals/treatment spaces had a profound effect on the public's understanding of the numbers. Some PJs got access, but most of us were shut out. Private hospitals. Hospitals afraid of losing federal funding...

I always kind of joked with my loved ones that if I ever died in an Osprey accident while in the WH Press Pool they should prepare themselves for a lot of jokes and cheering. This scene here tonight is pretty bleak. I hope you can heal whatever pain is pushing you to post such things.

I was at Jan 6 and a lot of people who weren’t there knew a lot more than me and my journalist colleagues that day because they weren’t pinned to one specific spot with one view and they weren’t dealing with the stress, either. Lotta ppl missing the point which is that good journalism during
this is a good example of why breaking news situations are difficult. this one happened in a room full of journalists and i’ve seen at least three different and conflicting narratives

I was at Jan 6 and I had much less info than people not on the ground. It’s chaos. The fact that you weren’t getting definitive info quickly actually points to the amount of professional journos there. Many couldn’t confirm anything, thus they weren’t putting out rumors.
The amount of misinformation we’re getting about an incident that just occurred in front of 1,500 news reporters is truly the metaphor of our generation.
