Seems like there's been an upswing in the presence of the Canadian farming community here. 🍁

To celebrate this I've created a Starter Pack for all supporters of #CdnAg.

Let me know if you'd like to be added (or removed) and feel free to tag anyone else out there.

As a Canadian, I assume they are converting it to 5-pin bowling lanes.

At the Chippewas of Rama First Nation Powwow today near Orillia, Ontario.

Home to world’s largest dreamcatcher, I snapped this pic of some of the dancers gathering for the Grand Entry

So long Whitehorse, until next time!

Let’s end the day like we started it, with a grassy forage amongst the pines, down a long and winding dirt road.

A chicken & a pig adorn the entryway posts to this meat producer south of Whitehorse. I tried to snap a pic of his multiple barns through the trees, but I wasn’t overly successful #DontQuitYourDayJob 😂

Near the northwest shore of Little Atlin Lake some of the larger forage operators work the land here. In amongst the bails, cereals like oats & barley are also grown. #cropmap26 #CdnAg #Yukon

Wheat to the west, barley to the east, we end the day with Yukon Grain Farms. Not only a grain grower, they crush their own canola & use the oil in livestock feed they sell.
They also have multiple veggie fields incl: potato, cabbage, beet & carrot. All for the local market.

A large field of oats south of Lake Laberge. Still green, a colder than recent averages winter combined with a cool wet spring has left crops behind this season.
A warm drier July & early August has helped pull things closer to normal.

Like peanut butter to jam, so goes sod to urban centres.
Here is Whitehorse’s peanut butter…or is it jam??…my analogies are bad 😂

A dirty field of oats near Fox Creek. The flowering fireweed does look pretty though. 🥰

A field of barley & their accompanying storage bins.
This farmer takes some of his grains to produced food products for the local market.
I’ve picked up a bag of cereal & biscuit mix to bring home with me.

This Massey-Ferguson 510 was built in Brantford, Ontario in the late 1960s.
Still going strong today it awaits harvest time at one of the few cereal growers up here. #cropmap26 #CdnAg #Yukon #CanadianManufacturing

Irrigated forages outperform dry land forages. According to my local guide, you get at least 3x the yield…of course irrigation doesn’t happen for free💰. #cropmap26 #CdnAg #Yukon

The one tractor dealer in the Yukon is Kubota. If you are going to see a newer tractor, odds are they are it.

Here this MX-series is working forage land near Haines Junction. #cropmap26 #CdnAg #Yukon

Clearing some land west of Haines Junction. The chipped wood will take a long time to decompose in this environment.

4 years ago I passed this newly cleared field east of Haines Junction & it was full of oats.
Today it has been abandoned and weeds have taken over. ☹️
