Great idea for fleeing mechanics. What's in your backpack is what makes it harder, and at the same time, what is at stake! It adds a playful layer to what is usually just a binary roll.
New fleeing rules for Vaults of Vaarn 2E. I used a simple DEX check for years but I've been liking this rule way more as it frontloads encumbrance as make or break in dicey situations. Allowing PCs to shed their equipment like loot pinatas to escape is a good tradeoff
