The Common Merganser looks for food by sticking its head underwater, looking for anything to eat. In this river, osprey and bald eagles patrol overhead, so the mergansers seem to keep an eye up above while they hunt.

Can reporters stop using the word deal? It’s an agreement, a settlement, a treaty, an understanding, an MOU etc. Using the word deal is accepting his simple-minded TV game-show framing and contributes to the bogus drama he is trying to create.

The Puget Sound area is an amazing place to find birds to photograph; today I visited Juanita Bay Park, on the shore of Lake Washington, boardwalks over wetlands and a real up-close view of the ducks and turtles.
