I'm surprised that The Matrix didn't include a reference of Zhuangzi's butterfly dream, it would fit the themes of that film so well.
And since The Matrix is also a trans metaphor, that Zhuangzi quote also is interesting from a trans and queer perspective!

I think a lot of non-binary people experience this awkward situation where it’s not clear if we are really understood or just “conveniently close enough” to the gender someone wants to see us as. And this is a fundamental struggle even in t4t relationships.
I feel for some time now that I wanna say something about sexual identity and gender and how I navigate that and how I wanna ask people to interact with me if they desire me and it might be unpopular but I think it needs to be said.

Eine Stadtverwaltung in Deutschland hat ernsthaft mal einem Storch verboten, sein Storchennest zu nutzen, weil der Mast, auf dem der Storch es gebaut hat, keine Baugenehmigung hatte...ich glaub, das hat dem Storch gar nicht interessiert.

Wohl naiv, aber ich hätte mir vor wenigen Jahren nicht vorstellen können, dass 2026 so viele Kolleg:innen aus den Sozialwissenschaften öffentlich die rechtsextreme Idee des "Ethnopluralismus" relativieren (als Teil des demokratischen Diskurses) oder gar legitimieren (als ein sinnvoller Vorschlag).
