I finally went and actually read this and wow holy shit this is not "deeply humane", having never read their writing or heard of them before it plainly comes through in the article that M. Gessen is a rank transmisogynist. And somehow this is still the nicest I've seen the NYT be about trans people.
M. Gessen has written a truly extraordinary piece about the "soft fascism" faced by transgender people in America, and by trans people in Kansas particularly. Beautifully written and reported, deeply humane. I really hope you'll read it.

Yooka-Laylee receiving a mixed to negative reception is baffling to me because that game is literally exactly as good as Banjo-Kazooie. Rare's 3D platformers were bad games and there's a reason the collectathon genre died out for a long time.
No hate, no dogpiling, just curious.
For me, it's Skyrim. Don't know why, considering it should be exactly my kind of game, but it just didn't click for me.

Mass Effect 2 is one of the worst and most disappointing video game sequels of all time. Aside from the visuals not a single thing about it is better than the first game. Yes, that includes the combat.

modern game dev tools are awesome. The one time in history I would say games becoming easier to make was actually a net negative was like 2006-2012 and that's because Unreal Engine 3 was fucking horrible, looked and ran like garbage with absurd load times, and yet everybody was using it
