We're like social network nomads wondering the desert encountering an oasis to stay in and then realize it was a mirage.
Most of June was spent on this: my hyper-personal finance app that's designed for my needs and only my needs. It takes all my financial documents, uses an LLM to read and classify the contents and produces visual analysis of my financial world in a way I understand.

I just realized that the world cup started, and also realized I just watched the first two games, and also realized I have all the free time to watch every single game. #retiree

I managed to get resident.inanimate.tech working to send custom gradients to m5sticks3 over wifi. The hot reloading is like magic. Thanks @genmon.fyi for putting this together!

I also managed to hook up the mic, now wondering if I could make http requests... 🤔

I made a thing yesterday, and today I made it better.

Revisited an old project of mine from several years ago rendering open train data from the Japan government. At the time I barely got it working but this time I had a stab at it with AI and really made it work.

Finally deleted all my tweets from Twitter.

The web API rate limits to 200 deletes per 15 mins, and I had 13209 tweets - roughly 16 hours if nothing went wrong (and it did a few times.)

My Twitter For You feed immediately went from geeky japanese cartographers to AI bros arguing with each other.

After 6863 days, yesterday was my final day at Google. Two months shy of 19 years.

There's no next thing, I'm retiring to spend time completing my side quests.

Let me report another supply chain attack: While I was reading about the axios supply chain attack, I was fooled into thinking that The Hacker News is the Hacker News (hn.ycombinator.com).

I'm this 👌 close to muting anything that starts with "the future of" because there's nothing more annoying than someone trying to predict the future.

Let's stay in the present.

We are resurrecting the Geo Tokyo meetup that has been on a 3.5 year hiatus. @reustle.org and I are inviting those who like geeking out on maps and geo data to come join us on Apr 1 at FabCafe Tokyo for a good fun chat.

Another vibe coded thing that was easier to make than to search for. A qrcode generator where I can mess with the pixels and see if it scans.

I dislocated my knee a month ago snowboarding, and so I've been channelling all my frustration and energy into building this big site about Japanese snowboards.
The world of Japanese snowboards is very fragmented and not so well documented, but also huge and fascinating.

As a fun experiment, while redesigning my website again this year, I wondered what would happen if I could navigate my website using terminal commands. Today, I got it working after a few attempts:

For many years, I have wanted to get a Sigma fp camera. Now I even want it more after finding out how they build everything in Aizu, Fukushima.

I feel like I should also launch an AI browser. AI browser is the new todo list.

Everyone thinks everyone wants one, but actually we all secretly hate it.

AI as a ghost is pretty wonderful. It's not alive but it some how can do things that normal humans can't, yet has some fatal flaws. Stuck in pergatory or on a device.

Another #vibecoding update. Spent the long weekend making an Android app of my dreams . A check-in & location timeline app that allows me to check in post visit. Did so much I ran out of quota on Claude Pro that I decided to try out Codex (w/ ChatGPT Plus) and Gemini CLI.
