seen postings of a couple of local exhibitions recently that presented AI ~artworks~ in a supposedly critical "indigenous"/"eco" context and they still look exactly like slop, more offensive if anything. it's not happening cousins let it go

I don't like the term "Polynesian outliers" because it implies that the simplistic "Polynesian triangle" is Polynesia proper, when in reality it's all just Polynesia. Also the real shape of Polynesia is way prettier than a triangle, reminds me of a bird or a ray

just clocked someone as being from adelaide solely based on how they pronounced "home", confirming my view that we have a distinctive /oʊ/ diphthong and the plant/dance stuff isn't the only thing differentiating our accent from east coast ones. no one talks about this in australian accent convos !

seen attempts to rewrite history claiming there was no sign of a genocide in October 2023. Anyone who was actually paying attention could see within a few days of the 7th that Israel had decided to wage an extermination & annexation campaign. You can't gaslight me it's seared into my mind forever

another one last night: became lucid mid dream and started questioning the dream characters which caused the whole scene to deconstruct into this pixel art looking thing. then i tried to astral project but could feel i was uncomfy irl and had to wake up 😪 but i'm beginning to Gain Control....
couple nights ago in a lucid dream i decided to shut my eyes and travel to a deeper layer, which was just colourful lights and static but i stayed lucid. i then woke up from that into a non-lucid dream that had the same atmosphere/setting as the first lucid dream
i regularly have multilayered dreams where i am in sleep paralysis or a lucid dream but i feel too tired & heavy to control it, so i wake myself but "wake up" into a non-lucid dream. and it's like deeper dream layer = more tired/heavy feeling... what does all this mean

i don't like the argument that using gen AI is "cheating" because it implies it's a devious shortcut to creating an artwork (reinforcing the pro-AI narrative) when it's more like a devious shortcut to conducting a pinterest search

my observation of the visual artists i follow who have been using genAI tools for several years is that it doesn't seem like any of them have really developed the practice further since then, and in some cases their non-AI work has actually deteriorated in quality

one of the most mentally helpful things of my life has been understanding my body's cyclical patterns of mood/focus and how to work with them nonjudgementally. I involuntarily move thru a set of ~1-3 week mental phases and each one is kinda like a superpower with an achilles heel

vaha = open sea between
vaka = canoe
vahe = divide
vaʻinga = play
faiva = performance (fai = do)
lava = able
hiva = sing/dance
ava = opening
vai = water
manava = womb, heart, gut (mana = power)
