I might've studied & joined in the diplomatic service if a colleague (he was 28, I was 17) hadn't picked me out as young and dumb enough to have a 'romance' with. I left my job in IT after our break up; he felt I was too fat for him. I was one of three women in our department, 17yo, a size 12.
Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

There are reasons to be hopeful*, people out there who want to relate to others in human, harm reduction based ways. Things are changing, slowly but surely.

* I have a complicated relationship to hope!
Today I'm chatting about alt2sui stuff with workers from a pilot project that aims to give people who attend A&E for sui and self harm a consistent level of wraparound social and mh support - without any conditionality that people reduce their A&E usage.

I made this with kids plasticine and two stamp pads from a kids art supply shop. You don't need AI.

This is not #Printmaking, it's not etching, it is a digital photoediting process. I keep seeing art shared with hashtags suggesting the piece is a woodcut or etching when it's very clearly digitally created and rendered. And that's not printmaking, it might be art of a kind but it's not printmaking.

I have so many but one genre is 'Phantom lets me put an empty yogurt pot on his head' because it's absurd and sweet. He loved to finish any leftover yogurt and would wear a yogurt pot on his noggin for a sec. Staffies/pitties are silly.

For #BannedBooksWeek we’re highlighting Reading Wars by Don Herzog 📚

From Reformation England to contemporary book bans, Herzog explores the long history of attempts to control who can read and what they can read, and what this reveals about equality and freedom.

This looks good, I've spent the last few days explaining to each crisis team worker that the way I present and how I really feel are disconnected. Also staff member is also at a disconnect from me because BPD is in my notes and in my head as I talk with them. Its the gulf between us.
PUBLICATION DAY! I am so proud of my extraordinary colleague, collaborator, and friend @drflewis.bsky.social whose wonderful monograph 'New Materialist Encounters with the Borderline' is out today! I can't recommend this sparkling new work enough 💫✨ www.taylorfrancis.com/books/mono/1...

Were the cruelty of social and ethnic cleansing 'psychosis', it would be a temporary and changeable state, not a permanent public policy.
Its genocide apologia as well as slur usage imo.

This! Matt Bernstein and Mohammed el-Kurd spent over an hour on the A Bit Fruity podcast discussing hateful anti Palestinian Zionists by calling them 'literally psychotic' 'delusional' insisting using psychotic this way wasn't a slur. Unless the person is dx'ed w psychosis, it's akin to the r slur.
psychosis is a serious medical condition that causes by far the most amount of harm to the person actually experiencing it. psychotic is not a fun and emphatic way to say irrational, violent, confusing, incomprehensible, hypocritical, or evil.
