It's official: The EPA has repealed a rule that would have directly saved thousands of lives by limiting fossil fuel emissions from power plants. Industry lobbyists successfully pushed for this repeal using surging demand from data centers as justification. The government chose AI over human lives.

BREAKING WaPo:

A federal judge just ruled that the Trump admin broke the law when it ordered a 50% cut in FEMA employees — including thousands of on-call workers who respond to disasters.
Federal judge rules Trump plan to cut FEMA by 50 percent was unlawful
The judge said the plan, put together by DHS, appeared as if it was "pulled from thin air" and would impede FEMA's ability to fulfill its legally mandated duty to respond to disasters.

It’s valid to be skeptical of the CDC, given the leadership there. But most outbreak data comes from state health departments. You can easily double check any aggregated national data the CDC publishes by comparing for with state level data for consistency.
The CDC has declared the cyclospora outbreak linked to iceberg lettuce over. Nearly 13,000 cases in 21 states have been linked to Taylor Farms lettuce. 570 people have been hospitalized and two have died.

25 years ago. Utter devastation. New York rose up from the ashes, because that’s what New York always does and will always do. But the world changed forever from that point. It isn't enough to talk about peace. We must all work at it.

Just called my Congress members to urge them to speak out against this! Hope you’ll join me! Requiring immigrants on a visa to leave within 24 hours after losing a job is outrageous! People have families, kids in school, houses, caretaking responsibilities, and more.

Zohran Mamdani released 170K documents revealing that post-9/11 asbestos levels remained dangerous for months, despite officials saying the air was safe.

As we saw at the start of COVID, officials still treat essential workers as expendable.

This is a long-overdue step in the right direction.

There's no evidence that we can neutralize MAHA with a better health care system. Western Europe has universal access and lower costs — and still has huge anti-vaxx and “medical freedom” movements.

MAHA is driven by right-wing misinformation, not legitimate grievances with US healthcare.

I am a scientist – and the answer is climate change.

Yes, there is nuance. Yes, it could take a long time to identify the precise mechanisms.

But there is no question why ice and snow-related disasters are on the rise. Our planet is warming at an unprecedented rate, and humans are responsible.
In Nepal, it will most likely take months for scientists to understand exactly what led to deadly flash floods that killed over 1,000 people and left thousands missing. Early theories posit glacier meltwater and a thawing permafrost could have contributed to bedrock collapse.
