You can see the genocide from space. Yet still it is widely denied.
Google is updating its satellite images of Gaza. The comprehensiveness of effort required to reduce an urban landscape to this is beyond imagining. Literal carpet bombing.

"...but not until *after* the next election, which Labour would need to win despite the existing electoral system already being unfit for purpose."

Quit holding us to ransom. Labour has a majority NOW – use it to make positive changes, then we can talk about returning you to government in 2029.

#TIL that post-exertional malaise (PEM) gives a name to my experience of "doing too much* on day n wipes me out on day n+1" (*and "too much" here is of course relative – I'm talking a spot of vacuuming, not running a marathon).

Thank you @georgemonbiot.bsky.social for shining this light on #ME/CFS.

Few humanist authors are as well known as Salman Rushdie, who in 1989 was sentenced to death by a fatwa issued by Iran's Ayatollah Khomeini over his novel The Satanic Verses, and in 2022 was stabbed on stage at a lecture in New York. He is our patron, and one of our heroes. #Humanistbookshelf

In the wake of Reform's conference, our chief exec @stephenmevans.bsky.social reflects on the growing ecosystem of Christian nationalism - and why Britain's constitutional intertwinement of religion and state leaves the door open to religious identitarianism.

Britain’s archaic Church-state settlement could enable Reform’s Christian nationalism
With Christian nationalism being embraced as an answer to Islamism and social fragmentation, Stephen Evans argues that secularism offers a far better defence of Britain's freedoms. Read More

Bishops and Archbishops have voted against: abolition of slavery, abolition of death penalty, decriminalising abortion, decriminalising gay sex, same-sex marriage. So this is just the latest in long tradition of opposition to choice and freedom. It's scandalous that they get to vote on laws at all!

Signed.

The Government really needs to ban evangelism and proselytising in all schools, and guarantee that all children receive inclusive, evidence-based education – not indoctrination.
Schools should be places of learning, not religious recruitment. Yet some churches & religious organisations are using publicly funded schools to evangelise to children — often without parents even knowing.

Add your name if you agree evangelism has no place in schools.

The #bellringing community is so reliant upon churches – mostly CofE – to provide the bells they ring, they allow the church to impose excessive, religion-based #safeguarding training on ALL ringers.

Meanwhile the CofE subjects children to "conversion" and exorcisms.

I'll stick to ringing at home.
New reports by anti-LGBT abuse charity Galop and the C of E have found religious homophobia is fuelling so-called gay conversion therapy.

Yet such religious homophobia continues to be enabled by our charity sector and education system👇

Our criteria for success are disastrously skewed. In my view, a successful person is one who does more good than harm, on any scale. On this measure, most billionaires are massive failures, while humble folk in my neighbourhood who look after other people are highly successful.
