If I have one tip for people coming to Scotland, it’s this - slow down. Take the back roads. Don’t rush from the airport or the ferry to get up north.

My mum used to say ‘I got this dress on sale and saved £20, so I spent the money I saved on a cardigan to match’. Our family joke is ‘How are you going to spend the money you saved’. Funny that this is now US financial policy.

I’ve a new client and their marketing consultant is a woman who is 188cm tall, who told me she feels small next to the management team.

Here in Germany, we have experience of what happens when money becomes worthless.

She’d be incredibly impressed. That I have two amazing, supportive and loving kids, that her gamble – on the cute guy she met and decided to stay in Germany for – paid off. That I am self-employed in a career she didn’t know existed, but can see suits her perfectly.

Remember when cars had a wee wheel under the dash that you could use to adjust the headlights?
Are you telling me that in a new(ish) car, I have to find a screwdriver, open the bonnet, and adjust manually? Bet it was some controller who said they could save 3.75€ on each car.

Ok, this is silly – but it’s also a horrible plan to house over a 1000 refugees in a camp-like place in the middle of nowhere – knowing UK, there’s probably not even public transport.
Dump them there for years, with hostile neighbours, and then complain they don’t integrate.

I’ve seen a few in Scotland, which confused me cause we have a lot of open land. And miles of beaches (including areas that you can let your dog off leash).
Dog fields are a thing - I know someone who takes her 3 dogs to one. You book a slot and there’s a key code to open the gate. It seems an excellent idea BUT field don’t come cheap particularly where the land is high grad ag land #thearchers
