It's very satisfying to explain something that happens in #AssassinFamilyWIP to Melissa and for her to go "Wow! That's deeply uncomfortable! We should explore that further!" 😌🫶

I've set up this link so folks can support all the survival funds I host in one place. As we head steadily to zero, I’m distributing what you give to least-supported families. This brings help to everyone; if you make it recurring, you can sustains it. Simple yet powerful math.

The second volume of this project will go out in a week or so. It's going to include photography, illustration, animation, sculptural work, avant-garde film, and music, covering all the works that I've been wanting to talk about in the latter half of the year

You can read the first volume now:
ENGAGING WITH ART EVERY DAY: VOL 1

In this month's newsletter, I discuss my current life project: taking the time to experience at least one new piece of art every single day. Good, bad, ugly, pretty, it doesn't matter. Here is some of what I've experienced so far and why I want to share it

There's a lot of "Dolls are for everyone!!!!" until someone who isn't a cis woman appears, and then it's "Well, dolls are *for* women and girls, and you can't force us out." Which is certainly a stance you can take in the face of gender diversity in your spaces
Watching people in the doll space struggle with gender essentialism and cisheteronormative patriarchy while trying to Do Feminism™️ through consumer choices, chucking softly, and closing the browser

You're not wrong 😌
all i know is that at least one of your doll women is married to a they/them mothman doll and that is feminism, to me

The show itself was...incredible

It was a ballet. It was an opera. It was a cabaret show. It was a play. It was a confessional. It was an ass-shaking pop concert. It was a communal celebration of art, joy, love, grief, and the divine

Idk man this was a life-changing kind of art experience

Still thinking about last night's show. It was the very last performance of the Lux tour. Rosalía was very emotional and candid with the audience about everything that went into it, ready to say goodbye to the album and move on to something new. Seeing that candor in a packed stadium was a blessing

Well

That was an unforgettable performance. Probably the greatest concert I've ever been to, but even to call it a concert feels insufficient

Brother you ever have an experience with art in public so profoundly beautiful and sincere that it reaffirms your will to live and make art for yourself?
