The ADHD whimsy nobody warns you about: I'll rescue a lonely banana and ignore my tire light. The banana's been on my counter 9 days. I don't eat bananas. There's a spider in my shower named Gerald. He was late on Tuesday. What have you named and given a full personality?

My friend sent me an 11-minute voice note in March. I'm still saving it for my full attention. Yesterday she asked what I thought and I had to act like I knew she moved to Denver. Minute six. So I sent back 14 minutes. She's saving it for when she has time.

Small study: 84% of 53 kids with ADHD (ages 4 to 14) had low ferritin, the blood marker for iron stores, vs 18% of kids without. Adults weren't tested, but it's worth asking your doctor for a ferritin test.

ADHD is writing a 2,000 word text about your day and then skipping every message longer than three lines

ADHD Awareness Month, and one parent says stop treating it like a label. OT Leena Bachu describes three main types, and says the hyperactive one is often noticed first by teachers or parents.

Cocaine use disorder in bipolar isn't rare: 10.94% pooled across 27 studies, 46.25% in primary substance use samples. Those with both had worse mood symptoms and more ADHD and PTSD. Observational, so no proof of cause. Ever treated for both at once?

ADHD means I can plan a weekend for 11 people and still lose a months-long fight to a $14 return label. That lamp has been in my trunk since July. My check engine light has been on since 2022. I covered it with a frog sticker. What's the easy task beating you for months?

The Da Vinci Series, EP 5: David Neeleman founded JetBlue and four other airlines. He has ADHD and chose not to medicate. "I have an easier time planning a 20-aircraft fleet than I do paying the light bill." Normal, or keep his ADD? "I would take ADD.

ADHD laundry is mostly rewashing the same towels until they forgive you. Fourth try, I set a timer, heard it go off, said "yep" out loud to nobody, and kept watching a video about how bridges get built. Tonight is load five, which is also load one. Your record for one load?

A review of 22 studies, not focused on people with ADHD, found binaural beats may help attention, memory and calm, more so when started before a task. Try: headphones on, beats playing a while before you start.

Today's rabbit hole: from Brazil's president to an animal-run world, in 6 jumps. Nobody knows where 'wraith' comes from; the OED says 'of obscure origin.' Tolkien got his own name's etymology wrong. Would you let animals run your world?

A new ADHD med just got US approval: centanafadine (SIMTRIYO). It blocks reuptake of norepinephrine, dopamine and serotonin. For adults and kids 6+ who weigh at least 20 kg. The paper's a timeline, not a trial: no efficacy or side effect data.

My impulsive side has never once done anything cool. It bought a $41 wheel of gouda because the Costco sample guy was nice. It moved the couch alone at 9:40pm on a Tuesday. 11 days later I climb over it to get to bed. Weirdest thing you've said yes to too fast?

GPs can now diagnose ADHD in most of Australia. The catch: some got a two-day course, and Queensland GPs need no extra training. Check yours first.

Does autism change tics? In a study of 535 people, it was linked to more complex tics, not more severe ones. Phrase tics: 12.2% vs 3.5%. Repeating their own words: 20.4% vs 8.3%. Do your tics look different from what people expect?

ADHD friendships: I disappear for months and these friends don't blink. Jess answered five months of silence with "ok so the bakery guy got engaged." Sam got a birthday text 11 days late and said "honestly the earliest you've ever been." What's the longest you've gone quiet?

ADHD and phone calls: I wrote a whole script to book the vet, including a line for if they asked about my day. They said "Hi, how can I help?" and I panicked and read my last line: "Perfect, see you then, bye." Then hung up. Dog's fine. Calling back in six to eight weeks.

ADHD focus has two settings: everything is too much or everything is too boring. Then hyperfocus shows up and you can't stop.

ADHD hyperfocus has terrible timing. Taxes due at midnight, so I spent three hours alphabetizing my spices, then 40 minutes in a 2011 cooking forum fight over whether smoked paprika goes under S or P. What useless thing did you get weirdly good at while avoiding something urgent?

ADHD and the crisper drawer: where vegetables go to stop existing.

Bought spinach Sunday. Found it 11 days later as dark green liquid in a bag. Ordered takeout four times in between because "there's no food."

What has your fridge turned into a science project this month?

My ADHD memory forgets your name and keeps your 2019 lunch order forever.

Forgot my PIN at the register with four people behind me. Still remember a wifi password from an Ohio coffee shop I visited once.

What old phone number or password could you still type from memory?

Today's rabbit hole: from PHP's messy names to incompressible bits, in 6 jumps. Early PHP used a function name's length as a hash, so some names are messy on purpose. Also, 23 people gives a 50% chance two share a birthday. Which jump got you?
